They don’t require you to wear a hood while setting up? Nice. We have to wear a hood setting up and during the surgery (I’m guessing the expectation is we never break out after set up)

We check vendor trays first. I know every place is different but we open all the peel packs, scrub in and make space to check the vendor trays because we aren’t suppose to roll the patient until we know our trays are good.

Good work man. I love ZImmer totals as they are probably the easist I have used. Also, how can yall set up without any music blasting lol. Thats like the most essential thing to an OR. Only turn down for counting lol if that lol and then its back to loud music till the patient rolls in lol

I just had my second total knee replacement surgery this year. I watched a video on the Mako Robot surgery which was fascinating, then I found this on the set up. The pay for Surgical Techs has deff gone up since 2015 and after COVID. Where I work Surgical Techs make 25-27/hr to start, and travelers make about double that.

Just so you know, you are the most selfless surgical tech I know, who spent time and effort to help

I was expecting the pay to be a lot higher on average. It just depends on where you work and what you do. But $500 a week for the amount of education you have to put into isn't a lot. Especially with the cost of living today. My rent is around $2100 a month. There is no way I'm graduating as a college student just to be certified to make $2000 a month or $40k yearly. I hope many on staff Surg techs gets paid a lot an hour cause that's Insane. I value stability and security. Not flip flop hot and cold pay. I live in SC by the way and looking into move to Massachusetts. I'm working as a EVS hospital cleaner and make $19.50 hourly full time.
