I've had 3 grady whites " 1986 19' tournament 175 I.O. , 1989 20' OVER NITER 200 HP. 2 stroke yamaha and my 23' gulf stream 225 2 stroke yamaha. Loved each boat for what I wanted and needed. I sold my 23' Gulfstream because I didn't have anyone to go out with me. I was wounded in the line of duty as a deputy sheriff, and my mobility was limited because of the injuries. I can't afford a new G.W. 21' or 20' center console or dual console single 150 hp. 4 stroke used . So I'm hoping to find a used low hour motor. I recommend G.W. 100% BECAUSE of my past experiences with my prior boats on rivers, bays, sounds, and ocean. It is very easy to tow and operate . Cheers

Great info. You could slow down on the turns of your knots. Using a long line sometimes make it hard to see the pull through. All and all good video.

Why do you prefer the 251 over the 231 or 281?

It’s due to my personal preference for fishing. For me, 251 is the perfect balance of shallow draft and offshore capability. With a reliable Yamaha motor I wouldn’t be afraid to venture to offshore bottom fishing holes or chase mahi, kings or sails when weather allowed. Plus, it has a shallow enough draft to fish most inshore waters for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon. I like a trailerable boat and both the 251 and 231 fit that bill without special permits or heavy duty trucks. The 231, I think, is 75/25 in favor of inshore and nearshore. The 251 is 50/50 inshore/offshore which is my balance of fishing and that’s why I lean toward it. The 281 is probably 65/35 in favor of offshore over in/nearshore. Coincidentally, I introduced a friend in the Keys to the 281 when he said he wanted an offshore capable hybrid to fish the range from the Humps to the backcountry. He bought it, rigged it for pelagics, bought electric reels for swords and put a Rhodan trolling motor and dual power poles on it. I’ve fished it with him several times and we hold over offshore bottom structure with the Rhodan and fish backcountry for snook, reds, trout and mangrove snapper-never using the anchor.

Yes, the 2019 Freedom 235 has remote engine flush. It is located under the starboard gunwale.

Real fishing boat demos don't show coushion on the bow when buyer wants to see a clear front deck for trolling motor must install locations.
