@onewheelahead3648 Жыл бұрын

Well done! I would love to go this direction with a 701 and downsize from my F800GS, but I just can't find many (if any at all) used 701s to pick up and start modifying.... Nobody gets rid of them apparently. Lots of 690's, but almost no 701s.... I'll give it one more winter of searching before I crack and order a new one...

Thanks ✌🏻 Didn’t know that the used- Market for 701s is so bad. When you buy a new one, you should go for the LR. @@onewheelahead3648 You're a brave man riding in Canada in November... I suppose if you're out east it's still possible. Out here in the west (SK) we are snow covered and have been for a while. Just spoke to a dealer today and it sounds like the LR is having trouble meeting DOT and CSA here in North America for some reason... That's the one I want but it doesn't sound like it's coming here any time soon. So I'll have to go the conversion route. If you get a chance in the summer there is some amazing riding to be done in Western Alberta and BC, I try to get there for a 5 day trip once a year and look forward to it all year. Love the idea of the massive safari tank… not sure about the big adventure graphics though, are these vinyl stickers that could be removed?
@onewheelahead36483 жыл бұрын
The graphics are not my favorite thing on the tanks either, sadly they can’t be removed. Painting the tanks is not an option, the gas fumes will destroy the painting, I tried it. Meanwhile, there are other options to enlarge the gas capacity on a 701. There is a tank kit on the market, directly from Husqvarna.

It seems that apart from pegs you now can't add anything to the motorcycle :) Anyway, if you are going to ride Off-road you have made the right choice. If you are going to spend a lot on highways you will probably suffer - even with the conceptseat seat and little windshield. hope you'll be free to travel soon...
@onewheelahead36483 жыл бұрын
You are not wrong. Recently i spent like 10 hours on the husky, riding mostly highways and some smaller roads, my rear was hurting beyond words. And another problem was my right wrist, it was in pain as well because of the permanent stress. For the next longer ride, I’ll use a fur to sit on, and a aftermarket cruise control, which will be subject on my next video coming soon. The Windshield was actually not bad and i don’t need to improve anything about it. Thank you for your comment ✌🏻

@@onewheelahead3648 If your wrist hurts you may want to check your grip on the handle. There are some videos that show ways to hold the throttle without prolonged effort and with more emotion and control. personally, I don't trust third-party cruise control and certainly not something made in China- not when it's effect my safety directly.

I am torn between this and Honda CRF45OL.
@onewheelahead36483 жыл бұрын
This is a hard one. The CRF is build simpler, which makes it more reliable i think. It is cheaper and lighter, the fuel economy is better as well and Acerbis has a fuel tank for it. But I don’t know if there are as many accessories available like for the Husqvarna.
@fcalin213 жыл бұрын
@@onewheelahead3648 Thank you ! My main concern is the handling. I guess i have to ride both. Haw do you like your bike ? It has a good ergonomic ? Adventure spec said it did not bond with this motorcycle. Bremcannon said it has a terible ergonomic for off road. What is your height and weight ? Do you have bar risers ?
@onewheelahead36483 жыл бұрын
@@fcalin21 I love my Bike, of course 😁 But honestly it is my first real motorcycle and I can’t compare to others. I have bar risers and a stock handle bar. The suspension, with its 275mm of travel, was to high for my 1,80m hight (and 75kg weight), so i lowered it 30mm, you need to be very tall for the 701. But the newer models are lower, they have only 250mm of travel. At light off-road conditions (gravel, mud...) the handling is good, i can’t complain. But I never compared it to other dual sport bikes or dirt bikes.

@onewheelahead36484 жыл бұрын

Question for you. With all the added range from your Safari tank why would you waste your valuable space and add weight with a fuel rotopax?? Seems more for show than go. BTW I love the build on your bike, very functional. Careful of the mounting with that palstic tool tube the tabs are notorious for breaking. I had one and it lasted one ride, though yours is in a better protected position I wouldnt trust it to withstand a minor impact.
@onewheelahead36484 жыл бұрын
Hey 👋 When i plan the build, my intention was, to go to Australia for six months to ride in the outback (Simpsons desert e.g.). You can’t carry enough fuel to the outback of Australia. When corona allows it, i will go to Canada in the summer, there are remote area’s as well. Some extra fuel is always a good idea, for journeys like that. Greetings 🖖🏻

@onewheelahead36484 жыл бұрын
Hey, Yes, the fuel pump quality is a problem I’m aware of. I think, there is a relation between fuel pump issues and fuel quality, that is why i use pre filters in my tanks. At the Moment I’m thinking about carrying a spare fuel pump with me, to be absolutely safe.
