The seed vault is stored on the RAM and not in the secure element. Will they ever be in danger of being destroyed unless I choose to hit Delete under the seed menu? Ie: remove batteries, bc I do not want to store the Q long term w/batteries installed Thx and thx for the videos 💪

I don't claim to be a programmer by any stretch of the word, but was following your video for adding to the config file, and followed you to the letter. As soon as I restarted it, it refused to work and had and error saying you can't have listen=0 and listenonion=1 as they contradict each other. So now I'm having to make sure all of it is uninstalled and removed so I can go through the pain of reinstalling and synching all over again....just thought I'd give you a heads up

you dont have to reinstall, just open up the bitcoin.conf file and # the Tor commands, save the file. Start Bitcoin Core. Go into the settings/options/network tab and check the allow incoming connections box. Close Bitcoin Core. Go back to the .conf file and un # the Tor configuration and save. Start up Bitcoin Core again and it should be okay. Make sure you have tor service running before hand.

I bought another "Industrial grade" Micro SD card for my Coldcard MK4, I was originally using a regular non industrial grade one, is this the method I need to do to copy that original Micro SD to my new Micro SD? Also, I wouldnt want to display this to my new M4 Macbook due to all the keys being exposed to the OS, can I make that copy and then open it on my coldcard using the 12 word backup phrase? And it only asks for those 12 words the first time correct? Sorry for all the questions, thanks guys

How would you scan the QR code on a second Coldcard Q, if the second one is in a completely different location to your first Coldcard Q that was able to scan it from the laptop? Could you screenshot the QR code and send it to yourself until you get to the location of the second Q?

Depends on what you want to note down. If it's something sensitive like passwords, bank details, etc. Then storing them in plain text on a laptop isn't secure. This is. You can however just encrypt the txt file on the laptop so yeah idk.. This is more portable ig. Damn expensive though, a phone can do this and everyone has a phone these days.. This does seem to be crypto/blockchain focused though

Theoretically someone could install key-logging software on your computer and use it to steal your data. Also you have to be careful with what software you use, since some of them (eg the W11 version of Notepad) keep a on-disk cache of everything you type.

@@AWriterWandering okay but you can always use os like tails os which is much more powerful. you just have to make sure the BIOS and stuff is safe and not tampered with, but doing all that is much harder than keylogging anyways

Maybe don't buy it in the first place. The company is not ethical. They lie about what they have in stock and actual shipping times. Bitcoiners should reject these practices as most of us have adopted BTC for ethical reasons

Generate new seed and send all your sats to it, you can coinjoin in between the migration for privacy purposes.

Hands down one of the greatest HW wallet companies in the industry. I had an issue with my Q, showed a video of the behavior, and within 4 days I had a replacement at my door, no questions asked. I'll be using Coinkite products for years to come. I'll also add that the password manager is a GREAT tool within the Cold Card. I used it to generate BIP85 passwords derived from my seed. Give each password it's own index, for example your google account might be index 1, your exchange password might be index 2, etc, etc. Then you can store your passwords in plain sight by just their index number. So if you ever need to restore a password derived from your seed, just look at what you wrote down "oh my Google account is index <some numerical value>" you can then re generate the password, provided you have your seed phrase still of course. Fantastic little feature.
