This such an excellent recording! Any idea where this performance took place or how it was recorded?
@TheRodge763 жыл бұрын
It was recorded at the Adam Plewacki Post in Buffalo, NY on April 29, 1966. I cleaned up the audio before posting it on KZbin. I assume, based on the year, it was recorded on a reel-to-reel machine.

LOve , love that song. Drove fro NJ to AZ and kept rewinding that tape. Also remember when Eddie played at Ocean City Polkamotion and I stood on a folding chair to record this song. Managed great recording on video.

There is a 3rd verse in this version starting at 2:02, and I can't make out all the words clearly because of the recording quality. Other audio versions and all written lyrics I see have only the 2 verses and the Chorus 2 or three times, this one has three verses. The last verse is always the one with "hey ciemne oczka, piekne ciemne oczka, mloda dziewczyna miala"... but this one has an additional verse. Anyone know the words or link to that verse?
@TheRodge766 жыл бұрын
Wish I could help. Another song that Eddie and Chet would add an extra verse to is Tu Lu Lu Oberek. When Eddie and Chet recorded it on the first Po Staro Krajsku album in 1964, they sang the 3 standard verses. When Chet was in the band in the 1960s they would add a 4th verse A Capella that I cannot find written anywhere. Interestingly, when Chet left the band Eddie performed the standard 3 verse version.

I FOUND IT! LOL... i started searching with the polish lyrics instead of the song title and got some hits from PL websites... A ta nasza dziewczynka, Każdego chłopca chciała, Osiemnaście lat, hej osiemnaście lat, Ona jeszcze nie miała. Osiemnaście lat, hej osiemnaście lat, Ona jeszcze nie miała. This is the only version on youtube or elsewhere I can find this verse sung...

I thought that this may be from a Club 505 radio broadcast over WJOB
@bradrodgers27576 жыл бұрын
Not sure. The audio quality is too good for an AM broadcast from that era. If you find the All The Girls Polka from 1962 that I posted on KZbin, you can hear the difference. That is from the WJOB broadcast from Club 505.

TheRodge , All of your "Versatones Live Throughout the Years" cuts are absolutely fantastic. They transport me back to a time I first heard Eddie, Chet and the other original guys of the Versatones. The youthful band feeding off the excitement of the crowd pops right out of these recordings and puts me back, smack dab in the 60s. If you have any more live cuts like these please post em. I come back every so often to listen to these again and again.

I wonder if Eddie Blazonczyk stayed with rock n roll recording with the Bel-Aires if he would have made it big. He had some success in rock n roll. But he certainly made it in performing and recording Polish polka music.
