@@MorphingReality The Article called "The Defector" broke it down nicely. "Twenty years later, writing in Vanity Fair, Hitchens dismissed his former comrade Vidal as a "crackpot" whose recent political writings were inseparable from the bilge found on loony conspiracy websites. This lefty bric-a-brac, it appeared, had transmogrified into a dues-paying member of the neocon establishment. The responses to Hitchens' noisy break with the left were routinely ad hominem and, in the case of his ex-allies, often intensely personal. Cockburn, editor of the radical newsletter and website Counterpunch, seethed that his former friend was a "truly disgusting sack of shit." Another Counterpunch writer, Jack McCarthy, sputtered that Hitchens was a "lying, self-serving, fat-assed, chain smoking, drunken, opportunistic, cynical contrarian." Norman Finkelstein, who had previously praised Hitchens' writings on the Israel-Palestine conflict, suggested that he might do the world a favor by committing suicide. Sifting through the detritus of post-9/11 opinion journalism, you'll see newly minted detractors accusing Hitchens of being, variously, an alcoholic, snitch, racist, cad, Holocaust denier, and predatory homosexual. Small wonder that The New Yorker would ask, in 2006, "What happened to Christopher Hitchens?"" As typical of the disgusting base barbarians that are the left, when someone does not agree with the, they show their true colors and attack attack attack.

Kings 1 “But if you[a] or your descendants turn away from me and do not observe the commands and decrees I have given you[b] and go off to serve other gods and worship them, 7 then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. Israel will then become a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. 8 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All[c] who pass by will be appalled and will scoff and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’ 9 People will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the Lord their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them-that is why the Lord brought all this disaster on them.’”

Hitchens was an Islamophobic scumbag. He was a charlatan.
@sincereflowers3218Ай бұрын
Islamophobic doesn’t exist. It was a term invented to shield Islam, a religion, from criticism. People who criticize Islam are not criticizing Muslims, who follow Islam, a religion. The reason it seems that way, and the reason Muslims get so sensitive when their religion is criticized is because Islam by its nature consumes all aspects of a persons life. From dress sense to diet. Criticism of that feels personal, because to a Muslim it is as close to personal as it can get.

Hitchens doesn't address one of the more obvious realities: Israel has literally saved the lives of millions of Jews who otherwise would have been destined to abject persecution, discrimination, and, in effect, slavery, as well as torture, rapine, and death. This is not a small detail. The intellectuals can argue all they want about this sound concept or that, but none has saved a large portion of the Jewish nation. Nor is the issue of majorities predating upon minorities addressed

@@MorphingReality Over one million Jews from the Middle East and another million from the former Soviet Union have been saved by their refuge Israel. Had they stayed where they were they would have been, according to their own testimony, persecuted and enslaved, as Jews have been, off-and-on, for the last 3,000 years. In America, where Jew-hate is almost ubiquitous, American Jews congregate in a few areas for a reason. The Jews have been physically saved almost exclusively due to the US Constitution, whose history and philosophical and moral origins are almost exclusively British. The product of lessons learnt from their barbaric and devastating civil wars of the 1600s, and then applied to their pubescent, barbaric, violent and divided colony, a nation currently so mired in corruption that it has no borders, and a mentally disabled criminal and liar as its President, who did not even win that position legitimately. American Jewish safety is skin deep at best, and recent events in which genocidal Jew-haters have taken over the streets and campuses of that benighted nation prove it beyond all doubt. As for almost all other Diaspora Jewish communities they live in fear for their lives but know Israel is there for them when the time inevitably comes for them to flee

I feel empty that I'm not moved by this. I listen with an open mind, but the same doubts nag. It's a question of competing conspiracies. One is that a single group of ideological people have subverted and obliterated passive enough societies for thousands of years. The other is that every other society has adopted that singular conspiracy without merit. The only way to reconcile the idea that it's Jews vs everyone, and that everyone else is wrong about their conclusions, is to conclude that Jews are vastly superior people. I wish somebody would engage honestly with me on this, I'm trying my best to not feel a certain way.

Hitchens does not believe in witchcraft and esotericism. He believes that, as most do that praying is just murmering some harmless words into his hands. I shared many of his views before I witnessed such things. Nobody should be subjected to that against their will. When they tell you, beleif is everything. They are not kidding. His convictions are deeply held and legitimate based on the evidence he has.
