Thanks, this is great - I wanted to check a recent System 7 set as I'm supporting them in March and wanted to know how to pitch my set tempo/style wise.

4 complete musicians. Some of the best music ever written. To me, they make the Beatles appear paper thin.

You can tell straightaway that Roger is the brains and Dave is a passive aggressive hippie in the wrong band :D

That’s funny. When I saw David Gilmour recently, I also was sitting next to the most annoying person ever at a concert.

Seems like Roger was a fairly pretentious chap back then, and still seems to be, whereas the other three were more down to earth

I would think any sound engineer for Pink Floyd would have to be more of a sound scientist.

High as fvck and just enjoying being a band with all the pre-megafame looseness and without all the pressures that would come later. What a brilliant moment in time captured here.

Superb, I have listened to the whole thing. I used to know Barry Christian (Taper No.2) back in the mid '80's. Anyone know if he's still about ?
@OaksMA_25 күн бұрын
Hi there Steve, hope you enjoyed this. Unfortunately, Barry passed away in the early 2000's. Did you trade tapes with him by any chance? All my best
@Fexobs24 күн бұрын
@@OaksMA_ Hi yes I traded a few with him in 1984. Can't recall how we met, possibly at a record fair. He used to pop round when he was in the area (Nether Edge, Sheffield). I do recall he'd taped King Crimson in 1971, ELP in 1971 and 1972. Didn't know he was behind the famous Floyd recording (or one of them !). He was very much into Tangerine Dream, Philip Glass by the time I knew him. I saw him giving a talk on minimalism/experimental music at The Leadmill although I can't recall if I intentionally attended or was on my way into work ! (I was a barman there for a year or so)

@@Fexobs Wow fantastic! From everything I have heard about Barry, he really did seem like a nice guy with a great taste in music. By any chance, do you still have any copies from your trades? Tapes, CDs, digital, etc. Barry's family would love to preserve his legacy wherever possible. I would certainly be interested as well. Thanks and all my best

Is that Snowy White or Gilmour playing the solo during Pigs on a Wing Part 2? I think it's Snowy on the 8-track version of the studio album, but not sure who played it live.

There is a special fascination with live records, as each show and concert is a little bit different. This recording sounds like very close to the stage, and is very enjoyable with the audience reactions in between. Thank you for sharing your work.

Wiltracking vocals onto a 16 track? Original recording was 8 track, so they should have loads more tracks for vocals without needing a 2nd machine. Wierd.

I was there. It was one of the most iconic concerts I ever attended - "Dark Side" still in development. I told my friends that they would not believe how great it was until they heard it. 50+ years later, a timeless masterpiece. I went hoping to see "Echoes" and I was not disappointed. During the final blues jam, roadies started taking all the equipment off the stage performer by performer until there was only David Gilmor left - it was obvious there would be no encore. But by that time, we had been treated to a legendary performance.
