Buddha Dharma was oppressed by the Nepali government time after time. Theravada tradition was living under the shadow for ages. However.Vajrayana emerged and played significant role to keep Buddha Dharma alive in Nepal even with the constant pressure by the government.Present day some Nepali politicians are trying to use fascist term over religion in Nepali society just like recent situation in India.Most likely Nepali government enjoys tourism from the Buddhist shrines and temples yet they have failed to observe the Dharma.. Lumbini was abandoned waste land without preservation for decades.Nepali government ignored the development of Lumbini and now they are drawn by political motivation and tourism over birth place of Buddha than logically promoting and flourishing Buddhas teachings in Nepali society.Sadly many Nepali do not even know the core teachings of Buddha but like to claim Buddha's birth place without knowing deeper meaning of Dharma.I say embrace the Dharma than his birth place.If Buddha was alive he would have said the same thing to everyone.
