I'm 30 and have this right now and I mean holy shit, 4 times I almost choked to death on my own phlegm at night and now several nights in a row I wake up around 3AM, cough all air out of my lungs, then I have a reflex to swallow but I can't, my throat stays closed and I can't breathe, my heart starts racing, I shoot up from my bed in panic that I am about to suffocate to death thinking about running outside of my apartment to start banging on my neighbors door before I pass out. Then I start to wheeze the air in sounding like a dying whale with a harpoon in its head. Then I stay up for some time just enjoying the fact I am still alive:D.. During the day it's way more controlled, but every night around 3AM I have this near death experience.
