Glass and polycarbonate (what most modern space helmets are made out of) are incredibly resistant to inorganic and organic acidic compounds, it makes literally no sense for the helmet to melt like that

Both movies were possible only if all crew members were complete retards. Which makes the movie bad because the audience cannot relate to characters whose actions defy the lost elementary logic.

Creepy hissing alien creature appears. These guys believe it's totally harmless and try to pet it.
@EpicEthan10297 күн бұрын
While it was stupid of them to approach it, at the same time, I'd also feel protected in those suits and honestly I feel as if he was trying to calm himself and Fifield down. Besides, even if you are a biologist, I don't think you could predict something with acid blood and the strength of breaking an arm. If it were like a snake on earth, it definitely wouldn't be able to do that. Still a dumb thing to do

I’m convinced this film is meant to be a parody of dumb sci fi horror, there’s no way the shot of him grinning like a moron while the snake thing is hissing at him isn’t supposed to be comedy

Seriously what idiots see a snake-like creature on a foreign planet and think "You know what I'm going to mess with it" I'm not even an animal expert and I know not to do that.

Suggested fixes for this scene: 1. Instead of getting lost, either the map couldn’t account for hidden corridors or they trigger the security system and get trapped. 2. Instead of trying to pet the space cobra, he’s so enamored by how “beautiful” it is, he doesn’t notice there are more sneaking up behind them.

I respect the curiosity, because that’s one of our defining traits as human beings, but I don’t respect the rampant ignorance and disregard for any form of first contact procedure. When exploring an alien world, policy should ALWAYS be to observe the animal _FROM A DISTANCE!,_ and only got close under _very_ fucking extreme circumstances, and by that I mean “it’s chasing you, so run the fuck away.”

Like many, I've been rewatching the franchise due to Romulus. It's incredible how Ripley was already the smartest character from the whole franchise from movie 1.
@rusty798416 күн бұрын
In Romulus’s defense the main cast were teens and they died from unforeseen or uncontrollable circumstances. Except that last one when she injected some black alien goo while pregnant.

No. Are people stupid yes. But it’s basic survival instinct to back off when an animal hisses/snarls/ growls at you especially if the animal is trying to make itself look bigger.

I remember seeing this in the theater and you could physically feel the collective groan of annoyance from the entire audience at this scene. Like every single person(and it was a full house) was simultaneously thinking how absurd this guy's action were and it was manifesting itself into a palpable emotion. It was just that dumb.

@rusty798420 күн бұрын
At least the characters in Romulus were teens that got killed by unforeseen circumstances or just bad luck. Prometheus and Covenant had the stupidest characters that are supposedly scientists and trained for dangerous situations yet get killed for making stupid decisions
