This was so interesting. My grandfather was a Chindit who took part in operation Thursday. He was an RSM in The Black Watch, who served in the defence and evacuation of Crete and the relief and subsequent breakout of Tobruk, before being sent to India in preparation for operation Thursday. He was mentioned in a book about the 51st Highland division, as `RSM Wilkie giving a talk on a soldiers life in India` on the troopship Empress of Australia, on the voyage to India In preparation for operation Thursday. He served `The Black Watch Royal Highland regiment` from 1920 - 1945 and was one of the small group of survivors.

Semantics! It would've been better for them to be mercenaries and getting paid then. I read they're fighting to get their pensions from the Brit. According to what I read, their wages were 300% lower than the British soldiers. Why would a bunch of Asians fight for the British empire?

My dad has a type 98. He found it at an estate sale. The owner had no idea how to take care of it so he gave it to my dad for $20 since it was so badly rusted. Any collector would leave it as it. Not my dad. He put that bitch in the vice and grinded down the rust all the way and sharpened it back up. While almost ruining the value of it, he doesn't care. He always told me "son, you have to realize that the value of a weapon is the user behind it. A weapon is worthless if it sits on a shelf, regardless of the pricetag." Thats why whenever i find/buy an antique, i always just fix it up instead of letting time take its course even more. Its more fun that way. Id rather have a functional and deadly peice of art than one that would fall apart from being so badly damaged

The British take pride in calling it a mutiny but every British Tom, Dick and Harry who got appointment in India during the colonial period was a looter. The main aim was to exploit India as much as possible to enrich Britain. Everyone who came to colonial India from Britain was a looter worse than a wild animal.

The Moghuls were not Indian either. More White man bad bull. I love how they always seem to forget, other peoples did bad things, too. But hey, they have no problem using all the tech and modern world stuff, brought by the White man. Fertilizer, clean drinking water, railroads, telephone; radio; electricity; oil; natural gas; and on and on. But the Chinese invented the compass and gun powder. You use Arabic numerals and the Indians had "zero," or "naught" as you Brits say. Whitean bad is tiresome. Give up the tech and its benefits, if you are so unhappy. Because, I'm sure living in a caste world of a hundred kingdoms is way better.
