Hello sir, Is it a good quality file on the 9047 ?? And the knife steel, is it decent ? Thank you a lot
@AmbuBadger6 ай бұрын
The knife steel is 12C27, good for everyday light use. I tend to keep mine with a sharp utility edge, but not shaving-sharp. I use mine at work and need it to cut through sheet plastic and cardboard without ducking too quickly. As for the file, it only seems to work well on softer metals like aluminum and non-hardened steels. On tools like my Ontario SPAX, it can be used to take the sharp corner off edges, but useless for sharpening the edge in a hurry. If anything gets sharp to any degree with the file, I know the steel is soft. Same for the hacksaw edge on the file, it's only really good for softer metals.

The LV10 now sits at work and sorta fills that bugout/get-home-bag role: I use it as my "relo" bag with the fire department. When another engine is busy fighting a fire or training, we can be relocated to cover the gaps, so-to-speak. Because that can happen at any time, it's good to have a bunch of essentials with you, and that's where I have repurposed the LV10. It carries a bottle of water + electrolyte power, spare underwear and duty T-shirt, OTC meds, battery bank and charging cable, toiletries, and even a disposable blanket. I took it with me when we were sent to help out with the Lahaina fires for four days, supplementing my main luggage. It was nice to just grab that bag instead of packing my toothbrush, soap, etc. in addition to the other stuff we were bringing.

Thank you for the great review! Out of both of them, which one would you recommend as a bail out bag for an active shooter scenario? I need to accommodate additional magazines for my firearm (handgun), chest seals, etc.
@AmbuBadger Жыл бұрын
The gray UCR pack is certainly set up better for holding lots of trauma dressings and the internal dividers will easily accommodate your mags as well. The larger zipper and zipper pulls will make opening easier, and I'd even say you could put a standard mag pouch in the bag for when the shooting starts-- at that time you'll reposition it outside on the strap or pack's MOLLE field and reload from there instead of opening pouches. If the LV10 were significantly cheaper, you could make do with it for sure.

How to ruin a perfectly good back and make much less comfortable to wear.
@AmbuBadger2 жыл бұрын
I'm in a tropical climate, that huge padded strap was not only bulky but would leave a band of sweat across my shirt whenever I wore it. The strap mod takes care of this as well as makes it comfy to wear on the other shoulder, but that's all personal preference. Some people would say stippling your grip ruins a perfectly good Glock!

I actually had just submitted a return for my UCR due to not really caring for it other than the very sturdy build quality… and the LV10 looks much more like what I’m seeking… and then I found your video here. Thank you for this review - I actually, after your review, think the UCR is much more what I’m seeking than the LC10. Most notably I like how the UCR opens wide up and you can get inside it easily… even though I wish it had a water bottle carrier and came with a bit more internal organization gear. Thanks again for this video - it really changed how I was looking at the packs. I may yet keep the UCR. I know I’m going to pass on the LV10 though.

My iPad Mini with a hard shell case easily fits in the divided portion of the main, but anything much larger may have to go at an angle. I've also got the Rapid Sling, and that'll hold my 11" MacBook Air in the hydration pocket, so you'd might want to check that one out. I've got one and will be posting a review on it soon.

Both watches are from Seiko. The first video shows a Seiko 5 mod SRPC67, nicknamed the "Bottle Cap." It's stock except for the orange band from Archer. The one in this video is a Seiko SKX007 diver's, but I modded the bezel insert and hands. The hands can be found on One Second Closer's webpage and they're the Final Fantasy model. I chose white for the hour and orange for the minute hands. I do watch modding on the side for myself, and could put a video up showing them if interested.

I finally got tired of it and cut the sling off! I hooked a generic one on the 1" webbing at the ends, I'll post an update video. I took it to Tokyo before the mod and plan on taking it again to see how it compares, but I like it a lot better now already. I just sliced off the ends as close as possible then ran a soldering iron over the raw edge to seal the fabric.
