Can you tell me where you got ur material for your book? I homeschool my 2nd grade granddaughter and she wants to do German next year. I'm having a very hard time finding anything to use for beginning German for kids.

I supplement Grade 2 MWC with an older Houghton Mifflin Math program that we were using (it was too much at once) . I will see what comes up next for MWC (some games are fun/some just eh) and if we need extra practice in that area I open up to that same thing in HM. It's been awesome holding onto the old program for that reason alone!

How do you decide what inch size (5/8", 3/8", 7/16", etc) to get?

I saw on an Amazon listing they had a size guide. It would show about how many pages fit per size.

I am SO glad to have come across this video!! I have heard so many people refer to Explode the Code as being a good “supplemental” program, but seeing the content within the Teachers guide it seems like it could be a very good stand alone curriculum!! I have no idea why more people aren’t using the teachers guide - it’s clearly full of very useful instruction to beef up the content of the student workbooks!!

I had the same exact thoughts! Definitely a whole curriculum when you get the teachers guide!

Fun! We have tried many of those ways to keep our kids engaged while read alouds and such. For us, it depends on the kid whether they can listen while doing sticker by number or word searches. The best ones were more mindless items like diamond dot, coloring, and for one of our kids, crocheting.
@TheSecularSchoolhouse Жыл бұрын
That makes total sense! My daughter has been learning to crochet so I could see her working on that during read aloud time!

We are reading The Humphrey series - The World According to Humphrey, Trouble According to Humphrey, etc. I have a similar shelf ledge (mine is wood) and I put mine on the floor and I put library reference books on it of things we are studying. It still amazes me that every time I refresh the books my kids will sit at the shelf ledge and read and flip through the books all on their own. If you like Magic Tree House, Ranger in Time is very similar.

we pulled our kid out after her Kinder year fully online due to Covid. We did it over the summer, and had a slow start in the mid of August. It's our 3rd year fully independent. Her younger sister has never been to any schooling institution, and she joined us last year full swing. So , currently I have a 8yo doing 3rd grade and a 5.5 yo doing K-1st grade work
