Lots of options depending what you want to do. We can source and install a used system that is serviceable for under $100k. A full blown new system with WAAS LPV is around $220k installed. Send me an email [email protected] and I will get you in touch with my maintenance team to discuss options for your jet.

Sorry but let me ask a couple of questiones: If the jet gets chartered for 1000 hours, how can the owner still practically use it? Isn’t the reality that it is away most days? Won’t the old jets have a lot of unscheduled maintenance? What about spares? What does the owner get out of this?you are obviously making the profit..
@YFWJ
@YFWJ 7 ай бұрын
The jet lives on the road and charters around an owner's schedule. It is not based at the Owner's FBO. This works well for an owner who flies 50 - 150 hours per year. Yes there is quite a bit of maintenance which we budget 1k an hour for, plus engine reserves. There is an abundance of after market parts for Falcons. The 50 - 150 hours of usage would cost $500k - $1.5m (10k/hr) on the open charter market, and the owner is flying for way less than that with the cash flow of the jet.

They don’t make money. If they made money large management/charter companies would be buying them an putting them on charter. Wheels up, Vista, both are in financial problems because they bought the asset thinking they could buy, operate and profit. Old depreciated jets operating costs eat up any potential profit. In no way does a Falcon 50 compare to a Challenger 300/350. You’ll have to throw away the Falcon 50, old G200 etc at the first heavy MX event. First heavy check on the Falcon 50 will cost more than the plane is worth and all profit is gone.
@YFWJ
@YFWJ Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your contribution, Wade. For the same $30m as a new Challenger 3500, one can buy 10-12 Falcon 50's. Similar category, similar capabilities but to your point, a CL350 is a nicer ride. You think that a 1C 'heavy check' is cost prohibitive for keeping this jet in the air? Last 1C I did (earlier this year) was $250k out the door for a new lease on life of a 40-year old jet. Being a late model Gulfstream captain, you probably know very little about these planes much less the maintenance cycles on them. To your point, I would not advocate for buying a fleet of brand new planes to make money. Thanks again for playing.

This guy’s accounting statements 😂 let’s just throw in “charter revenue net of commissions” and conveniently ignore the math that would make the EBITDA negative after you back out $510k in owner revenues plus the $945k in commissions. If rich people are THIS STUPID they probably should not own a plane. I can understand why so many nine figure UHNW individuals do not own planes based on this guy’s terrible math.
@YFWJ
@YFWJ Жыл бұрын
@bluerootz - bluster and ignorance are two things that look awful together. 1) $510k in 'owner revenue' are the costs that the owner pays to fly on his plane (covering direct operating costs) and this is essentially neutral to the EBITDA calculation, 2) Commissions have already been taken out of the EBITDA (that's what 'net of commissions' means)
@radcardad
@radcardad Жыл бұрын
@@YFWJ Name calling won’t fix your comically amateur hour spreadsheet breakdown. Anyone buying into a $3.5 M asset isn’t showing up without some basic common sense on how this works. You conveniently made a $1 M commission expense “disappear” from your fake P&L by magically calling it “net” . How about you publish a legitimate P&L from an entity leasing out their plane and we go from there? I couldn’t finish watching but I’m pretty sure you did not factor in interest expense into your cashflow breakdown. If I’m spending $3.5 M plus $90k a year in “commissions” CASH to fly my own plane I could one 1) park it in a 5% yielding treasury and more or less cover the cost of a Jet Card on the interest or go the Delta route and buy into a “shitty” company (eg Wheels Up for $500 M debt) and write off the losses. Don’t play games fool.
@YFWJ
@YFWJ Жыл бұрын
Buddy. You've got it all wrong. Yes we take the commissions out of the P&L and show the 'net contribution.' If we added the commissions in the model, two things would happen: 1) the revenue number would increase by 15%, and 2) there would be a 15% commission line item. The end result is the same.

I want to get into this but want to make sure I have a better understanding of the profit first. Are you saying that if I buy a $3.5M charter jet and give you to operate, my EBITDA would be roughly $900k/annum? What about your cut, how much or what percentage will your cut be? And is 75 hrs/mo booking realistic/achievable? Thanks for your great content, I’ve watched almost all your videos and you have caught my interest.

Talk to some owners. A lot of these planes don't make that much money. The ownership costs are so exorbitant that they charter them to offset and minimize expenses. Take a close look at maintenance costs and depreciation after purchase. Astronomical numbers. SOMETIMES they do OK, but...... A used 2M Cessna Citation can EASILY have an annual maintenance bill of 75K or more.
@YFWJ
@YFWJ Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Airframe maintenance budget on a Falcon 50 in our high utilization model is about $1m a year. The model is self liquidating, and completely different than a low-utilization Part 91 CJ owner. But yes, if someone is scared off by $75k a year in maintenance costs, this isn't for them.

Owners in our program generally fly 50 - 100 hours per year, or 5 - 10% of the total hours are owner usage versus charter. Owners schedule their flights on their plane just like a charter. If the owner wants to fly out of TUL, we would book charters to get close to TUL, and would sell it out of wherever that owner is going.
