nice design, if you want to take it to the next step, start 3d printing working models of your idea. FDM printing is super affordable and will allow you to prototype the mechanical function of the gun. it shouldnt require any licences either, thats only the case for load baring parts.

pretty cool design, but that bolt carrier and bolt seem like hell to machine. I do like your trigger idea tho, have been thinking about something similar, but the idea with the sideways hooks is pretty cool! One question tho: did you do the calculations for bolt weight and leverage? what caliber/chamber pressure would this work for?
@oileau19 күн бұрын
this was just the concept, im working on the gen 2 version rn. i'm working on the actually making it part so... im gonna gess the mass and stuff and simplify the parts. no more square holes lol. i'm making it in 9mm now and it seems that 2 pounds for a bolt (just blowback) is used usually so im gessing that if i have a 2/1 ratio i can cut the bolt carrier mass in half???
@oileau19 күн бұрын
for any delay blowback guns, pistol caliber works fine, when you go rifle cartrige it start to be anoying but it had been done before, like HK G3, Famas, but they have problem with extraction because they cycle very fast and get case head separation problem. but to solve that they are fluting the chamber to help, im not doing that, it's hard to do.
@letsflipp19 күн бұрын
@@oileau 9mm is probably a safe bet, less that can go wrong than a rifle caliber. Are you going to properly machine the parts, or going more the 3d printed route?

Why is there 2 hooks in the trigger group ?... Why not 1... And what causes the lever to unlock before the bolt travel back after a shot is fired ?...
@oileau19 күн бұрын
i put 2 hooks because it's cheaper that way.... i would need a disconnector of something if i didnt. the lever is not ''locked'' really, it pivot on the bolt an it push the bolt carrier. the lever increase the bolt carrier speed so that less mass is needed to stop the bolt from just flying away. it's kinda blowback.

It's the first time I see a Winchester 1907 trigger system on a handgun. The oblong shaped hole on the sear was used in many historical arms like M1 Carbine, FN FAL, H&K G3, SIG 510 and on a few SMGs but, on a pistol, I suspect it was not employed yet. I see some comments in turk below. If you are in Turkey, probably you are on the second best place for a gun enthusiast. Now leave the algodoo and make it again on a CAD. I gave up on algodoo, I failed to export DXFs to algodoo, the tools I got on internet never worked at all.

It's definitely a cleverly thought out mechanism, but it looks like it still needs some kinks worked out. For starters, the part which would grab a cartridge out of a magazine (called the bolt) normally is always the lower part, after all magazines are generally fed into a gun through the bottom and so you want the lower part of the bolt assembly to be what grabs cartridges from the magazine to place them in the barrel's chamber and eject them after firing. And the top part (called the bolt carrier) needs to be big enough to add the required weight in order to slow down the gun's cycling to a decent and acceptable speed, and the bolt carrier would also be what rides a rod with a spring over it in order to absorb the bolt carrier as it travels backwards, and then force it forward again under spring pressure to pick up another cartridge. But in the case of your design the bolt carrier needs to be dragged along by the bolt or else the locking part can't enter the slots cut in the trunnion. So that's something that needs redesigning.
@oileau2 ай бұрын
well... yeah sure. but this is not a finish project, this is an explanation on how it could work you know.... so yes, some change will be needed. but i'm more worried about the firing pin, like i gess it will need to be at a an angle so to not interfer with the locking pin... and also how much pressure can the hole in the trunnion can withstand. and for how it grab a bullet, that's the job of the bottom of it, under the hole where the cartrige goes. like the bolt is not a square, it's like a fat ''T''. the ''I'' part of the T is what grabs a bullet and should fit between the lips of a mag.

In order to lock up the two rotating locking lugs rotate to the vertical position in the round cut out slots, that means that the entire force of the cartridge pushing back against the bolt are held back only by the 2 rearward facing corners on each bolt lug. It is the very worst design possible. In normal designs you have flat surfaces on the bolt lugs contacting flat surfaces of the bolt lug recesses, thus spreading out all the forces evenly and over the largest area possible. Your design does the exact opposite, all the forces are focused into the smallest surface area possible, a guarantee for rapid and catastrophic failure if you use a high pressure intermediate cartridge like a 5,56 NATO. As it is, your design would be suitable for .22 LR or .25 ACP, perhaps .32 ACP at most. You definitely have a knack for designing though, so if you try out other designs I'm sure you'll come up with a couple good ones!
@oileau2 ай бұрын
yeah, im worried to about that, this is just an idea. the contact surface that matters could be increase by lengthening the pin lug or the overall diameter of it. now i'm thinking of a way to stop the hole in the trunnion from spreading. mayby with a external plate bolted on or something?? oh and you mentionned making it in 22lr? funny that you say that, you should look at the 22 ive made.. i find it very cool and clever lol. just look my other video. i like having feedback.

Just curious, why not just use the other method to accommodate for the rimmed cartridges instead? Like rotary magazines for example. And there are some firearms that used box magazine with rimmed cartridge through conventional mean (like SVD or Coonan 357). What exactly are you trying to design? I'm super curious. Nevertheless, your idea are so unorthodox and I really like hearing about them! Keep up good work man.
@oileau5 ай бұрын
rotary mags exist already but the more ammo you got in the mag, the bigger they gonna be. just look at a shotgun drum mag, you gonna get it. the coonan got a single feed mag, so its half the ammo capacity for the size and the dragunov got a longer cartrige that is easier to feed (its pointy) compare to .357 mag or 12 gauge lets say.
@oileau5 ай бұрын
and thats why guns in these flat nose kinda ammo are notoriously annoying to feed from a mag, you really got to make your mag exactly this or that shape or they jam, and the feed lips may also take a beating beacause of the rim
