Worst cutoff ever if it's an official recording. Are you sure there's not a second side/track to the tape/vinyl? EDIT: rhetorical question. I already know it's your recording that's terrible. Get the full version, where he cuts off and starts playing again like Fats Waller.

First heard Erroll playing 'Ghost of a Chance' many years ago and was hooked on his own unique style and the musical 'atmosphere' he could create - which was Different for any piece each time he played it - while always respecting the melody. Still regularly playing his recordings after 60 years or so. Without being able to read music he is a true artist. (Howard Lewis)

Over The Rainbow in C# ! Of course, difficult keys to play in made no difference to Erroll. As a non reader he just played tunes in the Key he was comfortable in. This resulted in some "out of this planet" sensational recordings. It did backfire on him when he tried playing a bit of Chopin or Debussy occasionally though - but even that was beautifully performed in his own way. I'm making this comment in 2018. I remember the day Erroll died over 40 years ago, and STILL he performs this magic to huge online audiences, including youngsters discovering him the very first time.

Un maravellos tema compost per Harold Arlen, popularitzar per la tambe maravellosa Judy Garland quant encara era una adolescent i que l'Erroll Garner en fa una recreacio unica en jazz. Miquel Palou

Nope...he was all of 3 years-old when he started playing! By the age of 7 he had a regular gig on a local radio show in Pittsburg! This early start was good, since sadly, we lost him at 55 years of age, to a coronary, if I remember correctly!

Seems I am understanding now the jazz guys were always looking to push the harmonic chord sequences as far out as they could and still somehow bring them back into the key again. I like this guy's sound. It sounds kind of soft and distant and smooth mostly (except those really loud parts around 2:50 that kind of didn't work for me). Interesting ideas in this. The half step dissonance after 3 min. pretty brave to ask the listener to accept total dissonance on each melody note.
