I saw him 5 days ago in Noordwijk and I was completely blown away. I've never seen or heard anything like it before. Jimmy's talent is worth millions to be honest.

9:22 : If that's the worst you've been through, you really have a lot left to experience! How about being mortally afraid of your own and your mother's life for eight years in a running? But I get the point.

This a GREAT documentary. Jimmy is an unbelievable talent. He was a force in nature back then. And Jon Larsen is also an AMAZING guitar player and has done SO MUCH for Gypsy jazz. Jimmy is my favourite Gypsy jazz player, along with Stocholo. Thx for this.

Discovering Django as I did at 16 I’m now 74 ...is a life changing moment it like enlightenment or self realisation and everyone you meet who discovers this sensational musician we become one ..he is like Jesus ina way showing you that heaven is in your soul when you findv5he key. Reinhardt is a religious experience To a young mind....

To be able to play like this you need to “tune” to something much larger, bigger that what the human mind is able to sustain.. Look at all great talents.. Finally, not many are able to survive it. It killed Django at 43 as well.. the stress channeling this magical energy is so much for the human brain that drugs seems to be needed simply to turn it of, or on again.. This is not something humans are supposed to be able to survive. Call it the price of selling your soul at the crossroad..

All great talents? Stephane was a great talent...didn't kill himself with drugs. Paco de Lucia was a great talent..No. This nonsense has got to stop. The artists who died young due to drug abuse did not die because they were "tuned in" to something bigger. The died because they were surrounded by bad influences their entire career. Alcoholism amongst musicians is rampant and due entirely to the fact that musicians play in bars being fed free alcohol. Got NOTHING to do with their talent. I've seen many average musicians fall to the same fate. How do you account for all the drug fucked lives being lived that are not accompanied by great talent? The idea that death is the price you pay for talent is basically a cop out by the untalented who lived to tell the tale. All great artists struggle...because art pays fuck all to most, not because they have "demons" or sold their soul at the crossroads.
