Thank you for creating this work of model railroading art. Took me back to when I used to ride them in the 60’s in Los Angeles. The realism is memory and thought evoking….❤️🙏😊

This is similar to the last time I went to the Disneyland Railroad, back in September 16th and 18th of 2023. They were running Disneyland Railroad #2 “E.P. Ripley” (Built by Walt Disney Studios in 1954) pulling the Excursion Train, and Disneyland Railroad #3 “Fred Gurley” (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1894) pulling the Holiday Blue Train.

Ok, don't get me wrong, I'm all for preserving historic trains. Especially with ones from my childhood. But out of ALL P2020s, you chose 164 instead of 163? This is really just a personal opinion, but 163 is more iconic among LA Metro trainspotters with it's well known "Gold Line horn". Not complaining about a train being preserved, just disappointed the iconic train will likely be scrapped.

I hate to say this but Nixon was more of a lefty compared to current Republicans and conservative Democrats. He was pro-transit and pro-passenger rail (though Amtrak could have been more comprehensive). He saw BART and got $38M for the project that benefited Rohr who probably was a contributor to Nixon and the Bay Area; still, BART got cars. In today's dollars that was about a third of a billion dollars. After Nixon, we get austerity presidents like Carter, Reagan, and Clinton. If Bernie or the Squad had been Democrats in 1968, no one would have considered them that left. That Overton window sure did shift. I probably rode on those cars back in the day. Good luck with your project. TY for the video. Bless BART and the people of SF. Sorry for the rant.

Paul started the The New Electric Railway Journal In 1988. The magazine's publisher was Paul M. Weyrich, a noted American conservative and FCF's founder and president. Weyrich was a longtime advocate of light rail transit and streetcars.[9] As TNERJ publisher, he penned an opinion column for every issue, and he acknowledged that it was unusual for an American political conservative to support government investment in mass transit,[10][11] but in the magazine he explained why he believed support for urban transit, and particularly rail transit, made sense and did not run counter to what he considered a "proper definition of conservatism."[10] In the magazine's premiere issue, Weyrich wrote that he was "committed to rail transit" and that "rail transit - all but abandoned in the 1950s as yesteryear's mode of transportation - is back in a major way all across the nation."[12] He also made it clear that, while the magazine's commentary sections would generally be advocating investment in rail transit, he and the editors would not hesitate to criticize existing or proposed rail-transit systems when they believed criticism was deserved.[12][13]

@@josephpadula2283 That's so bizarre. Had a friend who worked with Weyrich. My friend was VERY conservative and hated transit. They went on to bring religious group under the Republican banner through the right-to-life stuff. James Rhodes who was the governor of Ohio and Republican tried get high speed rail between Cleveland and Cincinnati but that went down. That was cool. If we could just get the Koch family to like rail. LOL

Really interesting information about the 1875 VC fire. I'm a docent at St. Mary's Museum and routinely get asked about it. The church caught fire in the steeple, they thought it was out and left but it wasn't and the church was gutted.

Hey! What is this? Was this a presentation that just happened recently? Which organization is this? With whom can I get in contact to find out more about it? I want to reach someone because I want to have the city and the state make the stone abutment of the bridge along the bike path an actual recognized monument to protect it.

It’s nice to see a museum looking to add some newer cars to its collection. What seems common today will be the historic cars of tomorrow. It’s important for future visitors to see what was used in service today just like we appreciate seeing the old cars we or our grandparents may have ridden on. I hope they get a reasonable amount of spare parts as many of the newer LRV’s use advanced electronics in their control systems and may not be available or easy to duplicate in the future years to keep them running.
