If you are designing places for people to have their parents age in place...don't treat it like another home. There are needs for people aging. Like...how about some safety hand-bars in the shower, a built in rail by the toilet. (many are made to handle toilet paper along with being for safety). Bidets for cleanliness (Japanese style are the best). Is there an outlet near the tub to be able to use an electric bathtub lift? For the kitchen, I had my dishwasher taken out and use a nice small counter top one. No bending, no lifting, perfect for 1-2 people. you can hook it to the water directly or pour in water anywhere you want to keep it. It's been a deal changer. Same with my in counter installed induction cook top and counter top air fryer/oven. No regular range needed and the safety is far greater. I can make whatever I want and my bending and stooping with heavy and hot items has been removed. Those kitchen adjustments have allowed me to age in place. The levered handles on the doors are good..a very important adjustment for ageing in place. I hope all the doors were wide enough to handle walkers or wheelchairs that may be needed as the parents age.
