Probably one of the best interviews ive ever seen.. this man was in combat long before any of that haters commenting here where even born .. they know nothing of war and they certainly know nothing of what happened over they just regurgitate communist propaganda they learned at college universities

I like hearing from actual people, they were actually involved, and we know about certain horrors of World War Two, the winning side always tells the story, but there is always another side, I want to hear their stories, the hind site is always 20x20, most of these fellows were kids then, and were not given a political choice or any part of that, mandatory service for most, and sucked into the inferno, all veterans need to tell their story.

Jerry was a slang word for a chamber pot used by the British. So, in WW1, the British began calling the Germans - Jerry. The British carried on with that name in WW2.

Excellent video! Genuine question with no ill intent: the Americans use imperial units but the interviewee said "40mm launcher". Is that common and how come? I would have expected it to be converted to imperial (for example 1.5 inch)
@MakingHistoryProject2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching, your comment, and your question. While the U.S. does use imperial units, it does not use that for purposes of its military equipment.

Sorry not sorry some of the people who make these pages or do these interviews are awful at interviewing the questioned are like they are looking at piece of paper of questions to ask but it's the order it's like where did you grow up and then the follow is when did u join what rank what was ur Mos the questions are missed place and badly asked what's ur mos what's ur favorite fast food joint shit like that
@MakingHistoryProject2 ай бұрын
The focus of this site is and should be on the Veterans and their stories. We appreciate your feedback but these interviews are also to capture the human side of the Veteran. As such, the interviews are not merely a historical account or recitation of a Veteran's military record. Given this, how might you have done it differently?
@impulsivereply93602 ай бұрын
@MakingHistoryProject I understand but the questions aren't linear like you asked what branch did you join then you ask what MOS then what weapons were you qualified for then how long you served and what ranked you obtained like how about keep a timeline who's starts with what was ur MOS and asked what weapons you used ????? Start with the textbook questions in order Branch Year joined Boot camp MOS First deployment What was it like what did u do and use like common sense 😂
@impulsivereply93602 ай бұрын
I just think these people are national treasures om sure you agree but it's completly random and dosent make sense to ask what was ur MOS and what weapons you used and what group they were with before asking what bootcamp was like

Glad you made it home safe Daniel. Odds weren't in anyone's favor, don't care where you were you were a target. Thanks for sharing your experience. My step father Sam R.I.P., trained dogs in the nam and he was always quick to say he was generally safe but when you say generally... you mean the odds were less likely you would not face combat, didn't mean he didn't, artillery was always a threat to everyone. Even the medical staff. If your time was up, it was just up he watched another trainer and 5 dogs get blown across the base by an artillery's shell. Not like the infantry guys but you woke up every day listening to artillery and the threat was constant. Sam died of renal failure. His liver was a casualty of that fucked up war! He was only 58 when he passed. I had to carry him to the car on numerous occasions when he needed to go to the hospital with jaundice and convulsions. Thank God for the DAV. Those guys are great! They always helped whenever we needed them. I take money to them directly and drop it off to them. They ALWAYS help their brothers with it. Wounded warriors and others keep a portion of the proceeds. I don't need a t shirt saying I helped. Use that money for the boys for Christ sake!!! Peace brother! We love all you guys and we can't stand the way you boys were treated when you came home! That... was deplorable. Much love and thank you again Daniel. 8^)

@@MakingHistoryProject so he chose to stay in Germany when he knew what Germany and Hitler were going to do. Everyone in Europe knew a war was coming. Everyone could see that Hitler and Germany oppressed and promoted hatred against Jews and yet he chose to stay and be part of it. That’s even worse than I originally thought. By posting this video you are glorifying the Third Reich. KZbin should not provide a venue for Germans who supported Hitler to share their views.
