I wish Stevie Wonder would record a dedicated jazz album. If ribbon in the sky isn’t proof enough, he needs to complete his legacy by sharing that with us.

💥 The problem is that for Chick, improvisation was as easy as walking, but for most of us, creating REALLY GOOD improvisation is a struggle. Most can do some good few bars, but can't keep all the solo at an astonishing level like he did, because he was a genius. He only played exactly what he wanted and never run out of excellent ideas. But common people can't create the unthinkable... 🎉❤❤❤

All the new young hot prodigies w/ the perfect timing and perfect phrasing (many of whom I enjoy), but this is one of the groups that made that possible.

💥 Absolute genius. Chick Corea has the rare gift of never run out of excellent ideas, and do exactly what he thinks, and NEVER do anything he doesn't want. These 2 characteristics I haven't seen on anybody else simultaneously. 🎉❤❤❤

It looks like Chick pricked his finger when he was holding the piano string at the beginning, but he didn't allow people to notice. These strings have some terrible edges sometimes. 😮😮😮

I have questions, when people like cory henry, chick corea, jesus molina, bill evans etc seat at the piano and start improvising, have they memorized what they are improvising, or it comes naturally? and to reach that level should I memorize my licks, patterns and scales etc. and improvise over different chords?

I wished Chick was still there his statement about knowing the piece so that you no longer have to play "by memory which is superfulous energy" is fascinating. I've played classical piano juries in my music studies and sure enough after practicing pieces for a semester i would know them without using any kind of memory work. But here comes my question to Chick [who unfortunaly can no longer respond]. Knowing a piece is scary, because it's like your body and mind playing it for you and your conscious mind is basically not doing anything and CAN interfere like a dissociated mind seeing yourself playing and not being A PART of it. Many classical musicians will understand what i mean. I guess it is a state that you have to learn calm the conscious mind and appease it and not let it interfere because if it does it will screw up you performance and that is how memory slip happens.

His melody is always "Cantabile" no matter how fast. He played exactly what he thought, without mistakes or thought deviations. And his mind produced the most outstanding ideas. Incredible. Nobody could do that. He was s true musical genius of our time. 🎉❤

💥 His ideas never runs out astonishing ideas. And the best thing: He could do whichever he thinks, without hesitation, or deviation. He played exactly what he created in his mind. That's why he is a real musical genius. He's always ready. There's no tun out of excellent ideas. 🎉❤❤

💥 Internalize a piece is just memorizing it with the many forms of memory: Muscular, aural ( ears ), and eyes ( when possible ). Divide the piece in sections and try to internalize each one of them by repetition. There's no other way. In order that you can speed up the process, you should recognize patterns on the sheet music, and possess a solid musical theory foundation. The rest is practice, practice. But in jazz that's not enough, you need to learn improvisation, and for improvising well, there's not a single formula. Chick Corea was the greatest musical genius of our time. He could improvise creating the exact melodies and chords he saw in his mind. And his mind could see the infinite. These combinations are very rare. There's not a living person capable of having outstanding jazz ideas like him, either harmonic, melodic or rhythmic. 🎉❤❤

Chick Corea's best band was when it was all white musicians in the 1980's. They merged their individual talents much better into one combined highly intertwined music. Whereas the individual talents here don't function well when they play together, it's just a round the table one instrument solo after another, it does not make for integrated satisfying songs like it did in the 1980's. All musicians except the tall black guitarist are top notch. The guitarist is a joke, he has no melodic skills and no fluidity on the fret instead uses a cramped rhythmic like contorsion and making faces as if he was doing something great. Occasionally Some N do that, they show they are very touchy and angered if you don't appreciate their nullity, they also uses social sucking up to the man in power to get a pass. I wonder how that one got hired by Chick but it must be a combination of those things.
