How do these units handle a build up of organic matter ? Do they filter or somehow clean the water running through them? In a dam for cattle quite often there is a lot of weed and stuff on the dam.
@scottytucker357119 сағат бұрын
There is a small inlet screen at the point where water is pulled into the prop. This is to protect the prop from damage caused by large debris. This can get clogged over time and would show up in reduced performance of the fountain display. If it clogged completely it would cause the control box to shut the unit down and protect the motor. In practice you don't want this to happen so the unit should be cleaned anywhere between 1-3 months depending on how dirty the dam is. Keep in mind that a lot of debris is moved away from the unit as the airborne water returns to the surface. In extreme circumstances an after market debris screen can be used and easily DIY. The instruction manual shows how to do this.

How long does this last in a big dam ?
@scottytucker3571Күн бұрын
That's a bit difficult to answer as it comes down to how much inorganic sediment is entering the dam. We would need to know more details about your waterbody to provide an answer. Feel free to contact us at waterqualitysolutions.com.au

Are there any chemicals that will kill it?
@glenanderson69108 күн бұрын
Not that I have found, Glyphosate / Roundup dries out the top but there might be 5 or 6 plants that share a horizontal root structure, I've tried mowing them in the dry sections, I've burnt them, I've poisoned them, they just keep coming back. I think the only good option in breaking your back, that is what I am doing for the last couple of years, or paying someone else to do it for you. "Chemical control: Herbicides registered for use in waterways may be applied in the period between male flowers opening and six weeks after female flowers open, avoiding run-off or spray drift entering the water. Using a wiper minimises the risk of run-off and spray drift and applies an even amount of chemical on the target plant (Tamar Valley Weed Strategy undated)."

Good day sir. Is this product availble in South Africa? We had a massive sewage spill in 2 dams in our residential estate. We need to reabilitate both dams. Most of the fish in the dams were cought and moved to alternative dams. Is this product harmfull to fish and /or other living organisms?
@scottytucker3571Ай бұрын
Hi, Biostim is safe for fish and wildlife. Unfortunately, the product is not available in South Africa but we can ship from Australia. Contact us at [email protected] if you are interested in an order or need further help. You can also learn more about Biostim here waterqualitysolutions.com.au/what-is-biostim/

Alternatively, in this case, you can lay geotextile on the bottom and sprinkle it with a 20-30 cm layer of sand.

I have a question regarding the heavy metal accumulation in Azolla and the neurotoxin production of Azolla's symbiotic phosphate-fixing cyanobacteria. If it is being used as a fertiliser and for life-stock, how are these very harmful substances being removed or controlled?

Hello! I'm in the Arizona mountains, and live on a beautiful creek. We were overrun by reeds during our last flood, and was wondering about what you meant by biologically degrading.
@scottytucker35716 ай бұрын
This means using probiotics and/or aeration to encourage greater populations of beneficial "good" bacteria to grow. They break down the waste (biologically). Here is our range of probiotics / biological stimulants waterqualitysolutions.com.au/water-treatments/biological-treatments/

Does this help with Duckweed too?
@scottytucker3571 Жыл бұрын
With ongoing use it can help eradicate all pests including Duckweed, but also other aquatic weeds and algae. Just to be clear, it's not a herbicide though. Read more below, it works through nutrient reduction which eventually starves out pests because they don't have enough access to nutrients to survive waterqualitysolutions.com.au/water-treatments/biological-treatments/

I want to figure out how to do the opposite with bacteria (or other natural method) for agriculture. You are taking ammonia and using bacteria to convert that back into nitrogen gas. I want to take nitrogen gas (air) and utilize the bacteria most efficient at converting nitrogen to ammonia. For agriculture.
@vishhh671 Жыл бұрын
You may try setting up a hydrophonics system. In this, u may use water containing optimum level of ammonia distributed to your crops

Is this stuff safe for fish and yabbies?
@scottytucker35712 жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as it's not grossly overdosed. It's an alum-based product which means there's a risk of sudden pH drop if severely overdosed. It's got a much higher safety margin than standard alum but there's still a risk. If you do some bucket testing before treating to give you a better idea of how much you'll need, then you'll know the ballpark range you should operate in. A bit more than this will be fine but a big overdose should be avoided. We haven't had anyone do any damage to fish or yabbies and we've been using if for over a decade.

Building my pond last couple weeks and my most stressful time was choosing the liner! BIG DECISION! Because I Have dogs that could possibly enter my pond, i went with 45-mil EPDM and though damn heavy at 210lbs for 25X25 liner I am very happy with my choice and could have spent 1/2 as much on a different material which would be lighter but not as strong...900.00usd later I am very happy with my decision. Liner is very important!

@@SpaceAce1316 Dang it, i can't remember BUT as long as its 45 MIL EPDM it dont really matter. its only 5-months old but having large dogs in the yard and walking around on the liner through construction phase and throughout the winter I am more than happy! can't beat 20-year warranty

Yes, solar is possible. Take a look at p.12 from this brochure (waterqualitysolutions.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Matala-Brochure_.pdf). If you have power within 200m of your dam, a remote setup can also be used. See p. 11 from the same brochure.
