I believe only 2 can be linked wirelessly, as it creates a left/right stereo pair. If you needed to link 3 or 4 of them, you'd probably have to daisy chain them with XLR cables instead.

Can you use channel two for a mic and Bluetooth at the same time? Most of these battery speakers have 2 mic inputs and a 3rd channel for Bluetooth. That way I can have a handheld mic, a lapel mic and still play music with Bluetooth! It’s the only thing stopping me from ordering.
@BrianDiener
@BrianDiener 17 күн бұрын
Yes you can. I just tested this. The Bluetooth volume isn’t controlled by channel two, it’s only controlled by the main volume and your device’s volume. Channel one and two are isolated, so you can use two mics + bluetooth all at the same time.

Hi, I had a question for you. First, I'd like to say this video is really well done. There is a wealth of knowledge and information in here at an exceptional quality, and I thank you for it. I'm thinking about starting a small live sound business. I don't DJ, however, I have an audio engineering background and would be focusing on providing sound for small to medium sized events, as well as audio engineering services such as mixing, stage setup, etc. My first question to you is, in your opinion, is there a market for this? Considering I am an independent operator, I imagine I could price my services a bit lower than competitors. My second question is about the gear. I am deciding if I should start small, or go big right away. I'm looking at 2 Qsc K12 mains and 2 Qsc KS112 subs for a small setup, or if that is not enough, switching the subs for KS18s, or, although it's much more expensive, switching the mains for LA112 in this video. My main concern is being able to market my service as a full sound system. I feel the smaller setup could fill enough to get me started, but the larger system certainly would allow me to expand and provide a much bigger sound, though it may be overkill for small venues. When you weigh the pros and cons, I'm curious what your opinion would be for my use case. Again, thanks for the content and hoping to hear from you. Take care.
@BrianDiener

Whether or not there’s a market for it depends on your area and how much demand versus competition there is. In addition to how and where you market yourself. Offering value is important, but being the cheapest option isn’t a sustainable business practice in the long term, so have a plan for growth. Clients will pay a premium if you’re genuinely good at what you do and have some experience. “Small to medium events” is a bit subjective. Everybody has a different definition, so put it in terms of total audience size, then spec a system for the largest number of people you expect to encounter. The bigger the investment, the longer it takes to be profitable, so it’s ultimately a business decision only you can make based on the variables. That said, I think most sound guys will agree it has been pretty busy the past few years. So that’s already working in your favor!

One of the, if not, THE best review of the LA112 speakers. I was debating if I got JBL or QSC but this I feel is the way. Easy deployment, AMP draw (OMG amazing) and easy of use are all wins.
@BrianDiener
@BrianDiener 3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah I still can't get over the amp draw. These are so efficient considering the output power they produce. It's a lifesaver for large venues with limited power availability.

would love some advice on the KW153, mine makes a crackling noise when input sources with a lot of low frequency transient (kick drums) is being sent through the speakers, its exacerbated and happens more frequently when im running the in the Deep mode. I don't think the speakers clipping yet, but this happens when its run pretty loud. Any ideas as to why this is happening and does it happen on yours??
@BrianDiener
@BrianDiener 3 ай бұрын
Hmm that doesn’t sound normal. Even if the speaker is limiting, the only noticeable change should be a slight dip in volume. When it happens, does it crackle out of both speakers or just one? If it’s both, then the problem is probably elsewhere in your signal chain such as a mic clipping. If it’s just coming out of one, I’d try switching your XLR cable from channel A to channel B and see if the issue persists. Process of elimination from there.

I love qsc but selling you the idea of a line array for a small party of up to 300 people is just a big no. That's why I moved to RCF 945a and for subs I went for the Yorkville es 21p. That's all I need. When there's a gig outside for over 500 people I use the RCF HDL 30 a 4 in each side and 6 Yorkvilles. Most engineers will tell you that you need a minimum of 3 speakers in your line a ray for it to work properly. Sorry for the misspelled words it's late and I'm super sleepy 🥱

Hey @Brian Diener , question here. Q: Would you say the JBL system if tuned and placed in an installed enviroment could equally rival or beat out the QSC system? Conext: I'm currently looking at installing a flown JBL SRX system at my church (3 arrays of 5 SRX906LA boxes + 2 SRX928s dual 18" subs). For reference this is the series directly below VRX, so I'm assuming from a perspective of sound quality/capability if the QSC beats out the VRX it would surely beat out the SRX aswell. Now in regards to the QSC alternative, we would be looking at (3 arrays of 4-5 LA108 + 2-4 LS118 single 18" subs). Both seem like fairly equal contenders on paper, but I recently was recommended the QSC L Series by a friend who performed an A/B test with a series of arrays on factory flat mode from various companies (including L Acoustics), and he said that QSC easily took the lead over JBL and was overall the best budget alternative to LAcoustics. That being said I'm rather curious if the QSC truly has better engineering (with things like ALP + LEAF) or if the boxes could be easily tuned to sound practically the same. I have yet to do the math on what coverage pattern and splay angles would best suit our room, so currently I'm just trying to evaluate whether or not the QSC is worth strong consideration. Additionally, I don't remember it being covered in the video, but from your field experience would you say there is any notable difference in performance between the QSC and JBL subs? Thank you for the review!
@BrianDiener
@BrianDiener 3 ай бұрын
Some very good questions indeed. It's a long answer that has to be prefaced by a few points: 1. QSC LA108/LS118 are both single woofer boxes. Whereas the SRX906LA and SRX828SP are both dual woofer boxes. 2. Either system could handle this situation and be tuned to sound good without too much trouble. But as far as which would be better overall? Well, on paper, these are compelling comparisons! We can take VRX out of the equation first. VRX is a much older box than SRX800/900. Even though it's still priced high, both L Class and SRX products sound objectively nicer than VRX. That said, since you're planning a deployment of installed subs, the single vs dual woofer dilemma in the line arrays becomes less of a concern since you're using them mainly for highs. What's going to make a huge difference is comparing the LA108 HF driver to the SRX906LA HF driver. Quoting directly from the manufacturer websites: The LA108 has a "1.75-inch compression driver with Polyimide diaphragm". The SRX906 has a "1.5 in exit neodymium compression driver with 3 in voice coil". So that matchup of single HF driver versus single HF driver would be quite a showdown. For the lows, it's hard to say if four LS118's or two SRX828SP would perform better. The specs rival each other pretty closely. If the LS118's are paired two and two, there should be a +3dB coupling effect that will increase the maximum SPL from 138dB to about 141dB. Which happens to be the same max SPL of the SRX828SP😂 Do you need the option to do cardioid subs to prevent stage bleed? That could be a deciding factor for the QSC option. Do you need Dante support? That could be a deciding factor for the QSC option. Do you need to hit the lowest possible sub-bass frequencies in a church environment? That could be a deciding factor for the JBL option. (The SRX828SP is rated at 29Hz versus the LS118 at 35Hz.) Do you need 1º splay angle increments for your system design, or would it be achievable using a combination of 1.5º, 6º and 12º? Paper comparisons only get us so far. The best comparison is closing your eyes and listening. So if you can get demos of each system, that would be ideal!

Let in ad the SRX 828sp is no way close to 141 SPL it's just a number. I own db technologies s30n and the SRX 828sp both rated at 141 SPL, and you need to have 2 828sp to equal 1 db technologies s30n.
@BrianDiener
@BrianDiener 2 ай бұрын
Well it's the official number on JBL's spec sheet, but max SPL and max _constant_ SPL are two very different things. The former looks better for marketing, whereas the latter is more representative of real world results. So I have no doubt the DB Technologies sub is capable of higher sustained output than the SRX828SP. Especially since the voice coils are 4" (compared to 3" on the SRX828SP).
