Hi I start a position as a school nurse in a day what are some questions that I should ask, because I am going to be by myself with I believe a population of about 570 students so not too bad I'm assuming unless there are alot of sickly kiddies. But just wanted some advice

Good luck!! I have 1200 kids and I manage alright usually so I think it should be okay! I lean on parents a ton when I have questions about what’s best for the kiddos as I get to know the kids better. Parents and you are a team!

This video popped up on my feed for some reason. As a PTA mom (with medical interest) to 2 head injury frequent flyers, one of which on daily adhd meds at school… I loved listening to your week! I’m also amazed your district has a nurse at each school. I think ours oversees many schools in our district (which is HUGE)! My adhd kiddo has been at our school since he was 3 (now in 4th grade) and I think I’ve only ever actually seen the nurse once.

I burned out badly 1 year ago as an L&D nurse, my life spiraled into a deep depression. I saw a full moon the night before my shift and had a full blown panic attack in the car. Called my manager and quit, havent gotten back into nursing since. Please take of yourselves and always have an exit plan. The lack of respect and abuse you see will wear you down quick, especially in obstetrics. I thought about returning just not in OB. 😅

Today I have made a decision to write a book about rheumatoid disease and nightshade sensitivity. I have struggled with rheumatoid for thirty years. Both my aunt and mother became very ill and crippled by this disease. I keep having to learn the lesson again about nightshades. Thank you so much for this video.

Honestly not really! I go into more detail on this on my why I left bedside video but basically getting paid about the same as day shift rate and my benefits are so much better so I don’t spend as much on health insurance and whatnot

I'm soo happy for you. I'm a newer nurse (graduated May 2023) and I worked at the bedside for a year. I just quit and left for a new job in home health. I was on night shift at the bedside and was miserable. It's a different kind of tired! I always said I'm a night owl, which is true, but waking up in the morning is a different kind of tired than feeling like a zombie after night shift. I'm so happy to be up in the morning with the rest of the world and going to work. It's so exciting! Getting to spend every night with my husband is worth everything to me
