Still have this single that I played on WMUH back in the day. A favorite.

Thanks for tryin', Cheryl, this was one of the first 5-45RPM records I ever purchased. It still holds a special place in my heart. I just can't believe over 50 years have passed since those times. Life was always challenging, yet, there were a lot more people who still got along-even with their ill will towards new stuff. I miss the era terribly. Now-a-days, everything, absolutely everything is about money-and making it as easily as you possibly can. The Fortunes, the Sandpipers, Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds, the Carpenters, Jeannie Knight and so many others. But my favorite-apparently I missed out the year it was on the charts? But I found a drug store that sold the little records. They ordered it for me. I plopped down $1.10 (that was a lot of money that year) and I rode my bike nearly 10 miles, one way, to get to said store to buy and then pick it up ("Hitchin' a ride"). Alas, those days are gone and something vulgar has probably replaced my simple songs on the charts...don't know if that's good or bad. After all, Bread and Terry Jacks had a knack for writing suicide songs. So, maybe today's generation has things a bit better? Who knows...best to all.

I feel that way now even more than I did back then. Does anyone remember what they did with people over 50 in the movie? It's scary.😂

And just like that, it’s 1971, and I’m 6 years old, hanging out at Mauserts, in the dead of summer, with all my friends. Where’d the time go!!

[Verse 1] There's a new sun rising up angry in the sky And there's a new voice crying, "We're not afraid to die" Let the old world make believe, it's blind and deaf and dumb But nothing can change the shape of things to come [Verse 2] There are changes lying ahead in every road And there are new thoughts ready and waiting to explode When tomorrow is today the bells may toll for some But nothing can change the shape of things to come [Bridge] The future's coming in now sweet and strong Ain't no one's gonna hold it back for long [Verse 3] There are new dreams crowding out old realities There's revolution sweeping in like a fresh new breeze Let the old world make believe, it's blind and deaf and dumb But nothing can change the shape of things Nothing can change the shape of things Nothing can change the shape of things Nothing can change the shape of things to come

1960s music industry monetization protocols catering to AM radio dictated that songs MUST be less than 3 minutes long. Not unlike current music industry monetization protocols which forbid tonalism and actual humans musicians playing actual musical instruments.

People today say. "Oh, we've never had such polarized politics in this country before". They either weren't alive or don't remember the 1960's and early 1970's.
