The board of directors of a company are responsible for choosing a good leader to replace a retiring CEO. When a company has a bad leader it's because the board has not done a good job. Stockholders should replace the poorly performing board members.

Of all the things that never happened, this never happened the most. There is no contract that would allow an employee to legally destroy company assets. It would certainly be a civil offense, and likely criminal one.

Are you able to register your own patents when you develop them in your line of duty? In Germany contracts of employment usually cover inventions you make at work and that they belong to the company.
@kaasmeester59032 ай бұрын
In the US, it was (and presumably) is quite common to stipulate that any patents revert to the employer, even on research done in the employee's free time! I had to sign such a contract once. Maybe you can negotiate your way out of that, but... in most countries, patents for work done on company hours will fall under the "work for hire" rule, with all rights going to the employer even if the employee is mentioned on the patent. In other words, this story is bullcrap.

Give your AI a better vocabulary. Also, who ever heard of a company leaving a patent with an employee, rather than claiming it for themselves, or outright buying it from the employee.
@kajirmellor8732 ай бұрын
First off, 20+ years ago, companies actually cared about their employees quite a bit more then today's "You're a replaceable faceless mook" attitude. Second, if you know what you're doing and have enough leverage to negotiate your contracts, you can maintain your patent rights or get other options. How else do you think these CEOs get golden parachutes that make a company have to PAY them to quit?
@stanleyreynolds78002 ай бұрын
@@kajirmellor873 I sincerely hope you don't believe what you're saying. 50+ years ago, employee prospects had to agree to signing over their patentable ideas in order to get a job. Important employee candidates said no and dishwashers sued when they invented something patentable. Uninformed employees signed the agreements and found lawyers when their ideas were worth something. Companies like HP patented their employee's ideas, but the employees were OK with it and got rewarded for their ideas. They didn't get to take them when they left the company.
