I hope the Original poster sees this, I would like to know how to obtain that material so I may use it to study at home. I have the student handbook already and I am trying to follow along but I am missing information somehow. Please help. Thank you. B

In the state of Pennsylvania. We legally cannot honor a DNR unless it is the original copy that is signed and dated. We cannot go by word of mouth alone. Also in the state of Pennsylvania. The POLST that a lot of hospitals will give out two patients as a substitute for an advanced directive. EMS cannot honor them at all. We have to call medical command and get permission from medical command to honor that form.

Thank you for reaching out and putting this here! It gets difficult to teach a one size fits all class on legal issues when we start crossing state lines because so many states are different. We are just now starting to get where we can bring in Pennsylvania students but this knowledge will be invaluable to make sure our instructors don't steer PA students wrong in future classes! If you don't mind saying, where in the state / what level of care are you?
