In Sanatan Vedic scriptures, life is divided into four parts. These are called four ashrams. 1. Brahmacharya Ashram 25 years, 2. Grihastha Ashram 25 years, 3. Vanaprastha Ashram 25 years, 4. Sanyas Ashram 25 years. The people who have opened this Vanaprastha Ashram have done a great welfare work. After the age of sixty-five, a person should not stay at home but should stay in Vanaprastha Ashram and do some work for the benefit of the society. Vanaprasthi is also connected to the house and he is also connected to the society. In Vanaprastha Ashram, food is simple and plain and is served on time. This keeps the health of the elderly good. People who suffer from lifestyle diseases get relief here. Here the elderly live in harmony with people of their age. It is not necessary for everyone to come to the ashram after the age of sixty-five. There are people of different categories. Those who are satisfied should come to the ashram and those who are not satisfied should stay at home. I have seen many types of Vanaprastha Ashrams available around various cities of India. Some ashrams are absolutely free. Apart from this, some ashrams charge monthly fees. Vanaprastha Ashram is not a new one but a Vedic tradition thousands of years old.
