So Abraham was unfaithful. Jacob was unfaithful. Elkanah, ditto. David - so unfaithful that God ALSO gave him Saul's wives and concubines and if that wasn't enough for a manly man like David, he'd supply him more. Solomon, even more so. And there's even instructions not to short your first wife in food or bed-time in favor of the next wife. To say nothing of how Ezra told the Hebrew men to leave their wives and children in the middle of the desert with nothing. (Oh, but they were FOREIGN wives and mixed children so they didn't qualify as human so harm, no foul.) To say nothing of the fact that there's a difference between the Greek apoluo (dismiss) and apostacion (formal dissolution) when Jewish men were simply turning out wives who now had no way of maintenance except to prostitute themselves AND were also prevented from having a normal life. To say nothing of the fact that adultery was covered in the Torah (stoning, remember?) so when Jesus taught that you divorce an adulterating spouse he SINNED in violating the Torah. To say nothing of how Christians never make a distinction between someone who initiated a divorce and the divorced UPON spouse. You broad-brush all divorced persons EQUALLY so that you can bash them all with impunity which is disgusting.

Thank you for listening Jenna, and for taking the time to comment. To correct three things that you said: 1) Jesus NEVER sinned. If He had ever sinned, He would not have been our sinless sacrifice, able to take away our sins. This is of incredible importance to the Christian faith. 2) This message DOES include a distinction between someone who initiated a divorce and the divorced upon spouse. 3) Those whom have been previously divorced were not bashed at all, quite the contrary.

I hope this isn't offensive. But I am a lesbian Christian girl. Our experiences of God and beliefs are so different, but I am glad that you are you. I know you wouldn't post this if you didn't care, and people who care are the most needed thing in this sad and angry old world. Thanks for all the ways you make the world a better place.

I’m not sure what you’re doing with scripture here. Misusing would come close. If you really mean what you say, some how the blacks in your community have missed out on hearing the saving gospel message of Jesus Christ and your next step would be to personally take it to them. The only answer facing this mess we are in today is the Gospel. Any and I mean, ANY man made institution is Not going to solve it. Not Black Lives Matter or Democrats or Republicans which are headed up by fallen, sinful men with differing goals than the gospel. I’m sad to see so many Christians, of any color, fall for this dupe that racism or anything else is the problem in America. If we don’t preach that we are all sinners in need of Christ, who else will?
