March 18, the day after St Patrick’s Day in Boston. I’ll bet there are a lot of hungover & hurtin’ people moping around on that day. ☘️ 😂😂😂

This is the Juiceman ll I still have the Original. I haven't juiced in years so I hope that it last for a while. It is approximately 35 years old but it still fired right up. The Original is made in Poland and not China. The only thing that will wear out is the Blade. Since it is old, I hope I can get some years out of it. Crossing my fingers. 🤞 And hoping for the best.

Lived in Boston in the early 2000s after college with a buddy. We used say “Bernie and Phyls furniture” with the thickest mass hole accents lol. They ran these commercials all the time lol. I haven’t thought of it in years but it just popped into my head so here I am lol

Via Wikipedia: The main WGBH signal operates at 100,000 watts, which is strong enough to cover the eastern half of Massachusetts, as well as Rhode Island, Eastern Connecticut, much of southern New Hampshire, and the southern tip of Maine. Indeed, for years WGBH claimed Providence, Rhode Island, as part of its primary coverage area; the station still provides a strong city-grade signal to Rhode Island's capital.

Lots of plusses to those Beetles as is shown in these ads, but the heater was definitely not one of them. 🥶

I remember one commercial that is not included here. It pictured a Beetle floating in a pool. The announcer commented “ Volkswagens float…definitely “ Then the Beetle started to sink. The announcer then said “ But not indefinitely.” Loved VW ads.

Some areas look completely unchanged today, others are very different. The midway with the Palace Arcade must have gotten a major facelift since then. This video has a lot of footage of the old Galaxi/Rockin' Rider coaster--the Frisbee is there now.

I own three, restored 1967 Volkswagen Beetles: Sedan, Sunroof and convertible. The convertible is valued at over $50k. Also, the Beetle in the 1974 "Worst storm ever" commercial at 23:40 is a 1967 Beetle, which sounds just terrific as it pulls away.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s the VW beetle was just about the only car available to Americans who wanted something small and with good gas mileage. It’s not very well-known today but all those years ago The beetle was detested by many American men who could not stomach the idea of a car being sold just because it’s gas mileage was good and because it was affordable and efficient and reliable.

I'll be honest, if VW still made this old-style Beetle, I'd buy one. My neighbor had one when I was a kid, and she'd take me places in it. I thought it was a really cool car, and she never got stuck in the snow with it.

When I was a kid (1960's) I remember my dad saying that they were air-cooled engine junk and that he would see them regularly along the highways with the "trunks up." LOL! Sure enough as I got older it proved true. I rode in a bug once and it was loud inside, crazy small, hard ride and everything was plastic. I noticed that even the doors were cardboard thin and knew for sure then that I would never EVER buy one! Funny how so many people have been duped by buying one of them...all because they looked different and was good on gas (when they ran.)

When I was a kid, I remember in 1972 when the Volkswagen Beetle surpassed the Ford Model T by taking the title as the best selling car of all time. That is how many people who were duped into buying one. Beetles at the time were everywhere. I also knew a mechanic who drove a 1956 Beetle. The odometer on his bug turned over from 99,999 miles back to 00,000 ten times. He drove that bug over 1,000,000 miles. The body sagged, and it looked rather beat up but still ran when everyone else had a car that would not start, or was at a service facility being repaired. That bug was one of the most reliable cars in our neighborhood at the time because it ran when everyone else had car troubles.

My first car was a 1970 Beetle. One of the best cars I’ve ever owned. In 1976 my wife and I were looking at a brand new Beetle for $1795.00. I think hyperinflation is already here!
