I own both of these guitars and, in this comparison, the Jem777 sounds terrible. Almost like it's set-up too low and the strings are being muted by the frets. Awful...

I also have the Jem jr which I bought in 2010, the stock pickups wasn't really good and I also upgraded it with the Evo.
@timborek71095 күн бұрын
I have the same Quantum pickups in my RG450MB (2016, mahogany body), and the bridge pickup's output (or sensitivity?) across the strings seems very uneven, which is why I'm looking to upgrade. High notes tend to sound brittle when you pick hard, but if you back off the picking intensity, the high notes get squelched--like an overly aggressive noise gate is muting those notes. I can tame the highs with my tone knob around 7, but then low notes get muddy. I guess I'm looking for a pickup with a more compressed sound that is less dynamic across the frequency range.

I bought the same purple 30th model second hand as my first guitar to learn on. I couldn't decide between a telecaster or a prs. I have to confess. It was the purple pop that sold me. Hopefully one day I can do it justice like you :)
This video is the main reason why i bought an ibanez jem jr and why i am going to buy an ibanez jem 7v after i get better at playing. jr worths every penny.

how's the action on the Pia? I have a Jem 7vp. i have had problems with it since the beginning. only reason i didn't send it back is because i got steve to sign it. Now after a very thorough setup and a lot of headache it plays alright , but the action is still kinda hard. cant get any lower without hearing (very audible ond cleans) fret buzz when using bridge+middle or middle+neck. although i still get the buzz when hitting the strings a bit harder. is that the case with the PIA also?

I’ve seen it in a few videos of the sterling, and it’s even happened to me a couple times, but around 5:06 it sounds like there’s a slight wah peddle effect that seems to happen at the moment you attack the string, is that from playing a certain way or is it from the guitar?

Finally got my hands on the Lefty PRS Silver Sky SE..and wow. Loved the rosewood so much I bought a maple one 4 days later. They're light, resonant, and the tone and playability are inspirational. I sold one of my Fender Custom Shop Strats after A/B'ing it with both the SE models. I'm a little dumbstruck as I've never played a sub-$1000 guitar (any brand) that was this good. Kudos to PRS and John Mayer and as a Lefty I'm hoping they release a Core USA model in the near future, cuz they'll have my money :-) Great video!

Got my lefty last week also....I own tons of guitars up thru Custom Shop, and as a lefty, I have to buy/sell all the time to experience what's out there. I also routinely upgrade pickups with new/used 'boutique' pups...so, I understand and appreciate quality tone. I play thru a Hamstead or a ToneKing Imperial. I'm all about quality tone. My SS SE, while not 'boutique' chimey...the tone characteristic is so pleasing! Love it. Keeper...and I'm mostly a Tele guy with more than my fair share from Harley Benton, CV50, MIM, G&L, AIO, FGN, MIA, LSL to Fender CS Closet Classic. But this PRS is really different and so wonderful to play/hear. To be fair, mine came PLEK'd. I prefer this SE over my MIA with Fralins...it's that good.

Nicely done! Yes I believe my "pinky out" appraisal is the Suhr sounds noticeably better. That can also be the way matches to the amp, freshness of strings - but truth be told, mostly jamming to Ms. Keys 🕶️🕶️🕶️😎. I felt the Suhr was pulling you more into sort of the deeper rhythmic playing, which is sort of "invisible" when Alicia Keys sings this. Some people, want it AaALlL Almost like various syllables are pointing towards the end of the verse, or harmonizing with the theme from the start!

Tone zone sounds really great on the ash body ... simply this pickup delivers more articulated and modern sound than JB...cos 1. has a higher output , 2. better lows 3. fuller tone. If u wanna play heavy/hard rock JB is classic...If u wanna more gain and much modern and deeper sound go for TZ...still we talk about ash body instruments...
