A fair few northern premier league teams were relegated to the championship before the massive amount of Saudi TV money came into play via 'parachute payments'. There is a reason why the championship play-off final is dubbed the £100M game.

Another fun fact about a southern guy who lives in italy: Historically and nowadays northern region's are too rich an attractive by jobs because the northen industrial & politics invest in their regions when southen regions o more to say "mezzogiorno d'italia" like Campania or Basilicata not. Another thing is the Historical racially war about the 2 macro regions thanks to old politics and thoughts about "terroni guy" and their poor people. Check the "antimeridionalismo" history, it explain why is born the racial war if i assume to call

Amazing video but one correction, allianz stadium is not stadio comunale. Stadio comunale is now stadio grande Torino where Torino plays. Allianz is a private stadium own and built by Juventus

Napoli can compete not only with smart work, but also economically, it increases a lot of resorces during last years and it is the third largest city in Italy but the only metropolitan area with a unique big club, so everybody in Naples are only Napoli supporters and now is the only italian club that has real money for the market, it was this year the second club in Europe for money trasfers without selling nobody just loans. 150 milions spent(without european competition sponsors), the fact also put Napoli a strong serie A power becouse it invoices around 300 milion plus per year, but with no debts! all the serie A power like Milan, Inter and Juventus are covered in debts and are controlled by financial fair play rules. So actually and for the future Napoli is the only southern club that can compete with the northern part.

Probably not the first to mention it's probably due to Yorkshire being Rugby League Heartland, majority of the Super League clubs are within Yorkshire.

It's also deficultly to sign players to the North,, get 100k a week to live in north in the rain, cold middle of no where, with nothign to spend you money on when you rich and in your 20's or go to around london and live it in with actual summers or can jump on a plane and be anywhere in europe in 1-2 hours, Scotlan is the same central belt players will stick to southern team and not head up to Inverness or Aberdeen, Inverness got so bad they wanted to base the team 120 miles away in the central belt and travel to Inverness for Home games!!!!

The saddest thing is that the South, Calabria especially with 'Ndrangheta, has some of the richest and most powerful criminal organizations in the world. They prevent a fair economic development despite our great strategic position in the Mediterranean. I believe that the solution is to strengthen sports at a grassroots level, as we lack the very basic structures and human capital in order to develop talent.

In England we do have an over representation of London at least 6 teams in the Premier League (30%) because London has more money. Milan, Turin, Genoa and Bologna are very big cities with money, but AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus have historically generous owners which pumped money into the teams.

Also winning gets you more wins so it's all a big snowball effect that started out when the league was at its start.
@roberw1912
@roberw1912 2 күн бұрын
@AndreaXV that's true, I think the Northern dominance in England is a result of the league starting there first and there was few Southern teams until 50 years after it's foundation.

The clubs that are coming up are from the South East and Midlands, not the South in general. South Western clubs have basically never been big, the biggest being Bournemouth and Bristol City. The wider South West has similar problems, economic and sporting, as the North

Well said young man it's the North/south divide it's the imbalance of the country players and of course THEIR WIVES/ Partner's would rather play for ANY southern club than a club in the North especially a 50 mile radius around LONDON and unfortunately that's how it will remain for a.long time yet
