He actually won that academy award eventually. For his work on Total Recall. Oh, and he also worked on RoboCop. His imagination produced the body and armor design for the RoboCop character.

I hope to see your amazing Art work Rob Bottin again soon, practical Effects are Awesome, cgi can be to much in films it Can ruin it, I think cgi should only be Used when it can't be done practically.

Guys like Stan Winston, Rick Baker and Rob Bottin brought this art form to a whole new level with their films. But its important to never forget, they stand on the shoulders of the giants that came before them. Its great to see those people getting the credit they deserve in this.

Think about the great sculptors that have lived throughout the centuries. Michelangelo, Bernini, Tillman Reminsnider etc... Rob (as well as others) have definitely been carrying the torch for this art form, helping to inspire the next generation. Thank you Mr. Bottin for all the amazing work!

I saw an article on Rick Baker in 1981 and decided that I wanted to be a special effects makeup artist. I wrote a letter to Dick Smith and started sending him photos of my work. By 1985 I started working on little student films and it's been over 35 years and I'm still working. These guys in particular set and example of excellence and helped me and thousands of others. Dick is gone and Rick has retired, but there are new guys and guys like me who are still creating this stuff. It's never boring.

@@DR676767 Rick Baker worked on "The Howling" but John Landis wanted him to do AWIL, so he left the Howling to his assistant, Rob Bottin, who went on to a great career as well. Rick invented the whole "Change-O- head" thing when he got the script for AWIL ten years earlier because Landis requested a painful transformation that had never been done.
