When a psychiatrist struggles to find anything wrong with a perfectly normal human being he just gives up and has a jolly conversation.

" The very nature of corporations are based on what's called limited liability, meaning if you're a participant in a corporation and the corporation say carries out mass murder is a limited liability, and the participants aren't guilty of it. So corporate manslaughter for example is a huge phenomenon but it's almost never punished." -Noam Chomsky.

Just about the last of the great men politicians in the UK, men of principle and their particular ethics. Kier Starmer or Rishi Sunak are weasels in comparison.

I think Powell and Foot were giants; I know little of Maudling; Jenkins has done as much for the sum total of human happiness as Blair.

From 1994 to 2004 I was privileged to meet with and correspond with Tony Benn. I admire that he allowed himself to be defined and driven by conviction rather than career convenience - cost whatever it might. And I was very blessed by his continual personal interest and encouragement of me through a critical decade in my life. Tony gave his life to occupying the prophetic space that speaks truth to power. This began for Tony when as a boy he was banned from his Sunday School for ably competing with the Sunday School teacher in his earnest attempts to truthfully interpret Scripture! Courage came naturally to Tony and he seemed to have no concept that this was not a universal trait. Without knowing how he did it, he unfailingly strengthened the courage of all who came close to him. Tony’s investment into younger people in his later years was inspirational. I am so grateful for his personal encouragement towards me. Without a doubt, Tony has influenced my preaching, my politics and my parenting.

40 years ago now, as a history undergrad, I sat opposite Tony Benn on a train from Paddington to Bristol. I had some of my books and notes spread on the table in front of me. He asked me what I was studying, and our conversation started right there! I have never forgotten it. He was wonderful company, an expert talker, and an interested listener. He gave me some pointers for an essay on The Levellers which I was writing! His enthusiasm and interest in so many things has stayed with me. I think Tony Benn was a great man. I am proud that I met him on that train journey that day.

My memories of Michael Foot is that he was pompous, incompetent more concerned about proving his left wing views than the welfare of the people and the country, good riddance.

Such a mind inspiring debate of men of opposite ideologies of their time, both succinctly arguing their respective points. Respect to both contributors and to the host (forgive me I do not remember his name) for not being an activist as to lead the argument in favour of one side in particular. Our modern age MPs & journos should learn from this exchange. My utmost appreciation to you for posting this 👍🏽

I was 2yrs old when he gave this lecture and nothing, not one single thing has changed in politics and the manufacturing of consent and war since then. *Keep in mind the word ''crisis'' has been applied with equal thickness throughout history, it's been spread over the world like peanut butter, and we almost always seem to be in crisis. If we are to believe the left, and then the right, we are never without a dire, and terrible doom within the next minute! "The end is near!"

The 1970s was a time when some of the nation's prominent 'brains trust' were the leading politicians of the period. Powell, Foot, Benn, Heath, Jenkins, Wilson and other would wipe the floor with any modern politicians.

On the Kennedy assassination, if it stood alone, then i would agree with Professor Chumsky. But. There were many assassinatiins within a 5 year period, and all attributed to individual lone gunmen. I am not a fan of conspiracy "theories", however i find it difficult to swallow so many coincidences. As for the collapse of the towers, again too many coincidences, some extremely convenient. The trillions missing from the Pentagon was impossible to pursue since the accounting section of the Pentagon was destroyed by a helpful terrorist? And a building collapsed like the other two without being hit by an airplane? Nothing suspicious about that either?
