A very good flight. I would like to land somewhere else. I tried to land in Peenemünde but I found that there is neither the texture nor a runway for Peenemünde. Is it possible to land somewhere else on Earth besides Cape Canaveral? This video helped me complete Challenge 4. Thank you
@JulianDanzerHAL900112 күн бұрын
without mods there's the two runwas at ksc and the fictional habana spaceport there's a bunch of mods that add more, like a pretty detailed airfield at wideawake island and one that adds a generic runway to all the little airports marked on the map though those were pre orbiter 2016 mods and since they add terrain/runways I'm not sure how well they would work wiht orbiter 2016 terrain, I suspect many of their runways might end up underground

I tried to fly into the atmosphere, but I kept losing the elevators. In a real situation, I would have burned up. It always ends in a bad crash. Maybe I should try it like in this video! You grill a burger meat on both sides. The video is a very good tutorial from someone who knows his machine. Maybe I can avoid ending up as a shooting star.

goign upside down is mostly to generate downwards lift when faster than orbital speed on reentry its mostly about memorizing when you get about 1G of lift reenter shallow, keep the nose up and once your sinkrate approahces 0 start turning sideways, approaching your target in a slalom while regulating your altitude with how far you bank to either direction, keep adjusting the altitude iwth speed so that you pull about 1G at full elevator input then once you learned how to survive reentry you can try targeting it by goign a bit lower/higher to loose speed slwoer/faster

Awesome flight. By the way, hows the Delta Glider 4 compatibility on Orbiter 2016 for you?
@JulianDanzerHAL900124 күн бұрын
been a while but as far as I could tell pretty well except the crash model would trigger on normal 0 on moon/mars/phobos etc the normal 0 is defiend by average elevatio nrather than sea level so about half hte terrain is below it and orbiter 2016 introduced terrain mesh for the first time but dgiv has its own crash model and the original dgiv just installed in orbiter 2016 would crash if it went through normal 0 too fast so when landing on mars/moon at elevation below 0 you have to be careful not to sink through 0 too fast not sure if there's been an update since but thats the only issue I saw

Did you know that starting in the 18th minute of your simulation flight, you had a UFO on your screen several times? Why do you include a UFO in a simulation? The thing was about 30 kilometers from the ISS. Theoretically, you could have even flown there. It looked like the TR-3B.
@JulianDanzerHAL9001Ай бұрын
its an included scenario but based on the dockign target selector there doesn't seem to be any other vessel in this scenario except you and the iss, probably jsut hte star backdrop
@ayhanbay980Ай бұрын
@@JulianDanzerHAL9001 I have watched your simulation flight several times and I have to disagree. It is a UFO that appears in this game. I am not crazy. I only watched the video to learn how to fly. The UFO, which has the type designation TR-3B, was completely unplanned and not the starry sky. I could take a still or two and show you if you want.

A thought experiment: If I am on a motorcycle on solid pavement next to a moving sidewalk, and I have horizontal pole attached firmly to the motorcycle and also to a freewheeling cart that is sitting on the moving sidewalk, when I accelerate the motor cycle, both the motorcycle and the cart will move forward against the movement of the moving sidewalk. And even if the sidewalk magically speeds up to match the wheel speed of the cart being pushed by the motorcycle, that will not slow down the forward movement as the force imparted by the moving sidewalk would simply spin the wheels of the cart faster. The motorcycle and cart will both move forward against the direction of the moving sidewalk because the motorcycle is pushing against the solid pavement and not against the moving sidewalk. I can gun the engine and the motorcycle and cart will both move faster and faster in the opposite direction. The only effect of the moving sidewalk would be to spin the wheels of the cart and thereby impose a bit more friction resisting the motorcycle, but not enough to overcome the thrust of a powerful motorcycle engine. In the case of the airplane on the moving conveyor belt, the jets are not pushing against the conveyor, but are instead are using the equal and opposite reaction of the exhaust gases to push the plane forward (you could simplify this by imagining that the jets are pushing against the air). So just like the thrust from the motorcycle engine that is not affected by the moving sidewalk, the thrust from the jet engines is not affected by the moving conveyor belt (except for a small amount of added friction) because they are not pushing against the conveyor, but directly against the air to move the wings of the airplane and the entire airplane forward. And furthermore, all those on here who say the plane would not move are forgetting that the only thing turning an airplanes wheels is the forward movement of the plane. If the plane really does not move forward at all, then the wheels do not move and the conveyor does not move. There is no motor turning the wheels, and so without forward motion, the wheels would not spin at all, i.e. a speed of ZERO. And then the conveyor would match that motionless speed, and how exactly would a non-moving conveyor stop the jets from forcing the plane forward? The conveyor does not even begin to move until the plane is already moving forward, so it obviously does not prevent that from happening.

NO ONE ever assumes anything about the wheels other than the fact that they are usually used to allow forward motion in response to thrust. But forward motion it required to provide airflow across the wing surfaces, this results in a pressure differential (Bernoulli principle) resulting in lift. Without any airflow across the wings, it will NOT fly.
@JulianDanzerHAL90013 ай бұрын
then what odes the conveyor belt have to do with any of it? also not bernoulli principle

You end with the conclusion that we may be a 3D universe because it is stable, but I think you also comment in the beginning that there could still be higher dimensions of such smaller magnitude such that we don’t recognize them at a macroscopic level-is that correct? Do you have any physical description to help understand what a higher physical dimension looks like? Thanks.
