Maybe Cristy could pen an emotional stirring song for the unwanted Irish child in it's mother's womb begging to be allowed to live. Oh ya I forgot he supported their executions.

Out of tune? Give your head a wobble. Only the Wolfe Tones could ruin it by turning it into an old time waltz. It's a serious song, not one for a dance hall.

Great song and singer. However the famous rebels v Mick Collins refused to accept the Dail Vote.
@rapier19543 жыл бұрын
If it were just that simple it would be great. But there are a lot of mixed emotions generated by all that transpired back then. Mick was put in a tight spot by the British and without any consultation signed the deal. No doubt they didn't have the resources to continue the fight and it was as good as he could get. But he never asked for leave to consult others. Then former allies and comrades in arms were at each other's throats. Much to the delight of the British no doubt who supplied the Free Staters with heavy guns and equipment plus military advisors etc. I myself could not turn and start slaughtering my fellow countrymen at the behest of the British. I would have had to sit it out. The signing of the treaty was one thing but committing a lob-sided slaughter of your own people that is well beyond the Pale and no doubt cost Collins his life.
@rapier19543 жыл бұрын
I should also add there are those who feel that the Dail vote went the way it did because British money was involved.

This song is more about the Civil War than the War of Independence. In actual fact the pro Treaty Free Staters are portrayed and named as the real enemy of the Galtee Mountain Boy and his rebel cohorts.

@@Dark-Valley You're definitely not from Britain or Ireland so I understand you struggling with this. Your map in your profile picture has Ireland partitioned into Ireland and Northern Ireland, but as you say, the north belongs to Ireland, people usually just have a map of all of Ireland as one country
