I understand my fellow audiophiles who are down on the track, but think for a second: It's just an auditory "test drive" ... If you ask them to select "real" music, chances are they end up picking something we listeners don't like, with the worst case scenario (for those trying to sell) they lose out on a buyer's cash because of an arbitrary choice made for a KZbin video. Like when you go look at TVs for sale, they play these dazzling test videos to show the bright colors, but the truth is that is not real, consumable content (no narrative, etc.) no matter how pretty the sweeping landscapes or bowls of fruit. This music is like those superficially impressive, but artistically worthless, video loops.

I'm sure this can sound much better in person depending on room treatment, but as is over YT there's way too much bass and it sounds way too boomy and slow.

Sounds great. I got an early DMP-A8, installed a 2tb SSD and loved that black box for around 6 months while I built up other very strong components around it. Then, it snuck up on me somehow and became my weakest link.......the DAC mostly. I love(d) the functionality and intuitive system. Very smart gear. I still have it in reserve holding 😊.

@@CaBdosdos(alternate log in - same user) After some trials, I wound up with a Mojo Audio Mystique X NC DAC. I streamed from the A8 via USB then got a Mojo server to replace the A8. I really miss the A8 functionality and user experience but my digital front end has otherwise leveled up.

Probably it depends on the record which is playing but i walked through your videos and compared 7s vs 11s via my headphones and it seems like 7s's bass is more impresive to me (that might be not true just my impression). My room is only about 12 square meters and thinking if it is going to make a big change between 7s and 11s

Why is hifi gear always put so low down to the ground? I see it all the time. You have to dive on your belly to read any of the displays on the gear or to handle it. I don’t understand that. So unhandy.
