He did some absolute perfect volleys, with the step and all & you said nothing. Tell him as it happens! Not just at the end but when it happens so he can link the positive reinforcement with the correct technique. Otherwise nice session, he has potential. 👍

What do you mean by that?
@SNPSkipp2 күн бұрын
@@jcrouse26 he’s hitting the ball as it’s coming down your supposed to hit it at its highest point, it’s the players issue not the technique
@parkercrossland4102 күн бұрын
@SNPSkipp Some players utilize a higher toss and contact on it's way down. Delbonis is the most prevalent example of hitting on the way down, but Cilic does a little bit as well.

Hi great coaching. Can you talk more about moving(hunting) in the diamond and when and how far you take the racket back out of the diamond and when to start the forward swing - is it at the peak or just before the peak so you can meet the ball at the peek.Or is the stroke fast enough to meet the ball at the peak if you start the forward motion at the peak

Hi Coach, I’m interested to hear your reply on the above question as well. I’m a USPTA Elite Pro and train HP juniors as well as adults. This prep/ timing issue is fundamental. Love your coaching style / energy and content. Even though I’ve been coaching for over 35 years I’m a student of the game and it’s such a breath of fresh air to see a fellow teaching pro who gets it. Too many KZbinrs out there who don’t communicate well and don’t understand how the modern game is played.

I'd not argue with this very good coach, just afraid the kid is too small for the modern FH. Think he'd be better off to start with old good eastern (or even continental grip) to get the basics and later to switch to this super aggressive FH

The manner and the coach with which one begins tennis is crucial. While I don't wish to exaggerate, it seems that 99% of the coaches I've encountered were merely ball machines, so I have so much respect for those who perform their job with professionalism.
@jcrouse268 күн бұрын
I feel the exact same way

Well said! Most coaches are glorified ball machines. "Good, follow through, move your feet, nice shot, good, little earlier". Very little actual instruction.
