I'm an ex-Mormon atheist, but Robertson's "The Lord's Prayer" is still the most bad-ass rendition of any Lord's Prayer choral piece!

Gee, it sounds a tad better when not re channelled into this HIDEOUS FAKE STEREO!! I have the original which is far more clear, bright and cleaner...I took care of my records. Thank the lord. Seven Dreams is 1000 times the masterpiece that Manhattan Tower pretended to be.

Forgive my double posting here! 😃I wrote the current post and then I saw the one I’d written two years ago but obviously had forgotten about. Oh well….

I would like to personally thank whoever posted this. I’m in my 80th year on this planet and grew up loving Gordon Jenkins’ magnificent music. But my blessings go on far beyond being a devoted fan….my Dad is Bill Lee who sang all the Steven songs on this album, Once Upon a Dream, Never Leave Me and many others. Listening to this now is such a trip down Memory Lane. When I was in high school my music department presented Manhattan Tower in concert and both my Dad and Gordon were in the audience l. The band director brought them both up on stage and I was so proud. Gordon bowed deeply to all of us with open arms and a big smile. Gordon and Beverly (Mahr, who wonderfully sang the role of Julie) lived in Malibu, a beach colony in Southern California. I spent many happy times there growing up. Rest In Peace, Gordon, Beverly and my Dad and Mom, all of whom fed my soul so beautifully with music.

Thank you for this! Wonderful to hear! I grew up with the Manhattan Tower L.P. at my parent's house---but couldn't play it; my folks had a party a year or so before I was born and somebody sat on it and broke it! For some reason they kept the broken L.P. in it's jacket and I read it growing up and was curious. Didn't find it until I started looking on line! Wonderful! Love it!

My mom, a teenager in the 1940s, had the original 4-disk recording of this, but by my teen years it was in a box in the garage. Out of curiosity I dug it out and played it. It was amazing! I still remember some of the tunes. Thanks for posting!

If this doesn't sound quite right to you, as it didn't to me at first, it's because right and left channels are reversed. Compensate with your headphones to put the violins back on the left.

I got to the end of the Opera, (which I hadn't in my last comment). I take back the feeling that it is like R-K; it is very French. That's not a bad thing, at all; just clearly different.
@markbeck83848 ай бұрын
Oh, I am enjoying this. It doesn't sound terribly like Bizet, except here and there, and for the French. it seems more like one of Rimsky-Korsakov's historical Operas. I'd love to see it now! It's sad that so many interesting works get lost over time.

From a non-musical perspective (i.e. not musically trained), hearing this after listening to Williams (film scores and concert music) all my life, I have to say there is something so consistent in his artistic expression.
