Only missed the last one. I said Bradley, not Bradford. As far as mispronouncing names, Barone is pronounced Bar-OWN, not BAR-on. And it sounded like you said Monsters, not Munsters, but that may just have been your accent.

So many of them no longer with us. I recognised all except one, although I must admit there were a few for whom I could recite a list of shows/movies they'd been in and characters they'd played but my mind went blank when it came to to naming them in time.

Didn't do too bad but at least six of those shows I'd never seen. On the Flinstone one you should also have added the Rubbles, since technically they were half the show. Otherwise quite a laugh.

I was at school in the sixties and on the whole school dinners were really nice fresh wholesome food made on the premises, when schools had their own kitchens and dinner ladies, I think things went downhill when outside catering was introduced, and things were just kept warm on site until lunchtime, it then became anything to feed the masses, like turkey twizzlers that were considered unhealthy fast food, oven chips etc, I don't remember having chips at school in the sixties, but I loved the puddings back then, especially cornflake tart.

We used to call mashed potatoes served round… clicker potatoes! We could have up to two mounds. The food I had in the 70’s was amazing as it was proper food, vegetables, meat etc. my sister and I had school dinners, but, after my brothers moved up into ‘big’ school, we took packed lunches. We think it was costing mum too much for all of us. 😊

Sensible parents made sandwiches or a lunchbox for their kids... l remember some of these 'dishes' but l don't remember living them much... What about stewed prunes & custard ?? I've always been vegetarian...NO v-friendly food...l never saw cauliflower cheese or cheese tart.. When l was in an Army boarding school in Germany, it was German cooks making British style food...a total catastrophy ! !! Reconstituted 'scrambled egg' powder among some of the gems...yeuch ! I subsisted on bread l think, & the rare times we had fruit...usually tinned... Anyway, it was all good character-building stuff !

Not many of these dishes were what we had at my schools (mid 50s to mid 60s). Pasta was unheard of, likewise turkey twizzlers. We had meat, potato in one form or another and a veg every day except Friday which was fish & chips day (proper fish not fish fingers). Desserts were sponge or suet puddings, fruit pies or crumbles and milk puddings. I liked school dinners but semolina and tapioca were the worst things ever.

That took me back. We don't have those meals at lunch in Australia. We did have them at home. So they are very familiar. Our school lunches are a choice of pastries and cakes that the canteen makes and places in paper bags. We go and eat them wherever available or in designated areas.

I used to have chicken pie. If it was in gravy it was delicious., if it was in a white sauce I'd give it a miss. Concrete cake was always a hit (I make it for my teen boys and they love it). Chocolate cake with chocolate sauce. Fish in parsley sauce. 😷 Thin pastry with caramel and a small blob of cream on top. Top tier. Duchess potatoes. Curry. We only had this a handful of times. School bread. Freshly made on site. Always in the summer to be eaten with salads. Toad in the hole. The sausages alway had gristle in them. Syrup sponge and custard. 🤩

We had liver and onions, but the liver was always tough and had tubes, ugh. I loved the Mash, gravy, and onions, though. I loved liver at home the way my mum did it. Mince, big tick, spam fritters always swimming I. Grease noooo. Didn't like semolina too much but I did not like tapioca and the devil's food sago, yuk. Looking at this food I realise we are a few years apart. We did have potatoes from an ice-cream scoop though and chocolate concrete and pink custard. I liked shepherd's pie, sausages and gravy etc. We had sliced meats, beef, chicken etc. Sometimes. We had fish, but always with Mash because the food was cooked on site and the fryers couldn't do both. In summer the did boiled potatoes and something with salads, we also got sliced bread and butter/ margarine to bulk up the lighter meals. Unfortunately for me they used to put grated cheese on the salad and sometimes on potato. At that age cheese and butter, or substitutes used to make me physically sick. The teachers still tried to make me eat it though, much to their regret. My favourite puddings were dead fly pie, or currant pasty and custard or jam roly-poly. There was also the old stand by rice pudding and jam.As a reference I had s hool dinners from 1961 to 1974, and my schools were in or around Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Great to talk about this stuff.😊
