Carbon Creek is the one where T'Pol's ancestor is stranded on mid-twentieth century Earth and has to live out a life among humans until she can create a device to signal a rescue ship and she ends up introducing velcro to humanity to she can help a friend's son get into college, Matt. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeez.

Boimler's speculation about the alternate universe were all foot related. That's what I was referring to. My schedule for work next week should allow for a timelier e-mail.

My e-mail thoughts are my real time reaction to moments in the episode, and Book being the guide felt like a money saving choice over a different actor and thinking about it, if it's supposed to be a rather even tempered observer that's supposed to still make Michael think about things, Spock would have been a nice surprise. The guide doesn't have to be Book to make Michael come to Book-related realisations. Book being the guide would have even worked better in a version of this season where he didn't come back for Moll stuff. It just felt redundant and cheap to some extent.

Heres a thing: McCoy saved Kirk and Spocks lives and careers, nobody noticed. McCoy (talking through his communicator to someone on the Enterprise...presumably the ships quartermaster requesting the silicon substance he needed for the Horta) "Nevermind why i want it, i just want it.". If he had to explain that he needed it to treat a grievous wound caused by both Kirk and Spock against a sentient intelligent creature, the officer would then have to file that in a report for which i am sure Starfleet and the Federation would take a very dim view of, bringing them both up on charges and possibly courtmartialed and expelled from service, if not imprisoned. So McCoy acted on behalf of saving his friends a lot of grief and turmoil.

To be honest I was expecting Jennifer to join in the mission with Mariner in this episode so she could work things out with Mariner by amending this misunderstanding back in season 3 and be just friends. However someone did say that it will happen in Season 5 next year 2024 which is going to be a very long wait again😒.

Charlie handles things poorly, but I also find a lot of the regular cast's behaviour towards him pretty unlikeable. Spock just has no tact with dealing with a young man who wants to learn to play the game, Uhura thinks it's fine to just embarrass him IN SONG in front of everybody, and Kirk has the 50s/60s attitude that the kid just needs some rough and tumble manly activities and goes out of his way to emasculate him physically in the gym. Rand's the only character I find sympathetic because she's got this unwanted attention and tries to deal with it as compassionately as she can.

Thank you Dave for acknowledging that the Kirk we've seen in Strange New Worlds has largely been an alternate timeline version of him, allowing for him to behave differently than his TOS self. I mean, it should be accepted anyway since we're apparently fine with how that applies to the rest of the show's cast, but with him, it's been more contentious and I'm a little bored of it by now, to be frank. One thing though: What happened to that Kirk's body? If you think about it, people running a eugenics program might find all sorts of interesting things in the body of a man from the 23rd century if they did an autopsy and other examinations on it. Futuristic medical implants, vaccines, traces of diseases that while harmless in his time, are potentially devastating in the present day. Hell, maybe it was those remains that Section 31 were keeping on Daystrom Station in Picard season 3.

The reason I bring up the Q dying mystery is that putting that plotline in and not explaining it whatsoever just begs the question of how it happen and makes it seem like it's a mystery to be explored later. Maybe in Discovery, where they already mentioned the Q disappearing.
