Oh dear, I hate woke more than these muppets, but if you think redemption is going to come through Trump, Carlson or Orban I give up. Especially disappointed with Peter, you fooled me over the last few years, I bought your spiel about rationality being the best route to the truth. Guess I was the sucker.

Yes to everything except Tucker Carlson. TC has emerged as the Weak Leak in conservative credibility. His lack of understanding of the most basic history of Israel, ill informed guest is an embarrassment. I understand he still has a big following, but right is right. He needs to be taken to task or not still pumped up at least.

The Three Mile Island spill of nuclear solids was minimal and limited to two structures on site. The rest of the uncontained nuclear spill were gases that were barely above background levels. The incident did not produce a wasteland.

John O'Sullivan is absolutely brilliant. In this election, the stakes of civilization are high. We should be glad to see intellectuals supporting Trump and all those who do not want to be controlled by people who think they know better than you, especially when they have evil intentions. The democrats did not mismanage the country, all what they did was done on purpose.

Hungary’s reality is a $3.70 hourly minimum wage paired with NYC-level grocery prices. For expats with foreign income, this might not matter, especially if the local currency doing really bad (now it’s worst). The inflation is still hitting, so why not talking about real issues instead of migration, gender, woke, etc? Recently, Orban compared Brussels to the USSR at the 1956 anniversary event insulting memory of those thousands of Hungarians who died resisting russian rule. Unlike you, John, he doesn’t see Russia as a persistent threat under Putin - this could be a serious security issue topic but you are not interested discussing real issues. I am here nearly seven years, I’ve made friends in culture and education and all of them furious about Orban’s politics. I’ve supported a lot of demonstrations for CEU, SZFE, teachers, KATA - defending real Hungarian concerns. Have you joined any of these to claim you’re not in a bubble? With all respect, Melissa and John, it’s, to put it mildly, hypocritical to criticize “elites” while being one of them and overlooking Hungary’s real issues. Also, while advocating for Hungarian people and attacking gender related issues, it’s good to understand that even Hungarian language doesn’t have gender :))

A thoughtful discussion, thank you. I chose not to vote for either presidential candidate. I’m cautious about extremes, particularly in these volatile national and global times. I think the idea of the melting pot is misunderstood today. It doesn’t mean that you abandon your culture of origin. I grew up in the 1970s, in the melting pot. My grandparents were treated as less than, as Italian immigrants. My father felt he was sometimes perceived as less than as a first generation American. I never felt that way as a second-generation American. We incorporated Italian traditions into our family life, but we were wholly integrated Americans, not Italians. My father once said I might have trouble getting into Yale as an Italian-American. My history teacher reminded me that the president of Yale at the time was an Italian-American. Italian-American. Primarily an American, with Italian ancestry. Both elements respected. First, we must be born or become Americans. That’s the idea of citizenship. We may also express and share our ancestors’ culture as we wish - as long as we don’t break the law. The study of English and American history must be required courses in our public schools. A deep study of our culture of origin is great as time and resources allow, the definition of an elective course. Multiculturalism as it has been misapplied is, in part, the demand that all cultures get equal air time in American public schools. They’re American schools teaching students how to be American citizens. That’s not nationalism or discrimination. Were they to teach me to be an Italian citizen instead? I think we need a new term to reintroduce the melting pot today. Maybe, the salad bowl? We are all part of one salad - the culture of our place of citizenship is the foundation, the lettuce. Our cultures of origin, carrots or chick peas, may complement the lettuce, but not replace it. If the latter is our goal, we are immigrant colonizers. We are all, first and foremost, one salad. I once studied multiculturalism in some depth. The core belief was that members of a non-dominant culture have input when they are affected by decisions made by the dominant culture. I see a lot of that happening, as it should. Militant multiculturalism goes too far by demanding that the culture of one’s citizenship adopt the values of one’s culture of origin. I’m gravely concerned about the violation of the rights of others - in the name of human rights. Americans need to take a hard look rather than turn a blind eye to the gross violation of women’s and children’s rights by the men leading the transgender movement - and take a hard look at the obsessive promotion of abortion in our culture. I believe a highly qualified and moderate female candidate from either party could have won. Will win.

Being an immigrant to America I found that Americans have an irrational paranoia of Hitler, to the point where anyone who is patriotic is called a nazi. At the same time they seem to have very little idea of what fascism actually is. It's like PTSD after WWII, a sort of overreaction to anything even remotely smelling of a strong leader, and so they tend to go overboard in trying to stop election of such a leader by taking on the very characteristics of fascism that they claim to fear. That's been very true of the democratic party recently with all the censorship and political correctness demanded of the people.

Obama was so full of himself that he did not understand or was too enamored with being "PRESIDENT" rather than sticking to the plan... the plan was Hillary in 2008 and then Obama in 2016... the problem was we were not going to be bullied into Hillary after having elected a black Muslim. A woman first then a black man and the racism cries still work... a black man first then people refuse to vote for a woman the misogyny claims fall on deaf ears.

Good to come to know of Michael Walsh. I have been a Liszt fan since the 1950s and played though most of his works. Vallée d'Obermann was one of my teenage party pieces, and I still play it. I have read the Alan Walker Liszt biography but Michael reminded me of things forgotten; I had never given any thought to the early years of the Franz/Marie children. The piano should have been tuned for this event, there were too many twangy notes in some critical places that make the later sparse piano works hard pull off. I will be tempted to read the coming novel by Michael Walsh with its letters between Marie and Carolyne, two very different characters. I was in Budapest for a conference in 2012 but had no time to do more than stand outside the Liszt Museum - that’s life.

Detail future you have to read Chinese government 5 year plan, and CPC meeting press release. Some defense white paper published annually by Chinese government. another thing - in my mind the current state of progressivism is a logical progression of 'the old school'/ 'the good ones' Chomsky-types leftists. I believe we must start institutions that are based on right wing and conservative values - things to ask ourselves is - do you know any right wing art? do you know the percentage of conservative artists or arts/humanity university professors? Extremely low. Leftism leads to demoralisation and destruction of art and censorship of history.

Victimhood culture stems from the need for power. These people, who fire others for 'wrongthink' are not an actual 'victims' or 'oppressed'- they want POWER. They're moral (and often sexual) degenerates. In fact - I'm not interested in discussion with these demoralised individuals anymore. They're dangerous to children and women. We must forget about 'institutions' that already exist, because they're morally depraved. We must start our own ones - without demoralised individuals. They can f*ck off.
