Russell Westbrook fan here. I do think Coach Malone will start the season with Russ coming off the bench, giving Christian Braun the starting sg spot. I think The Nuggets will likely be forced to change that if Jamal Murray starts the season a bit slow and Braun can not provide a consistent scoring punch. Don't be surprised if Russ is eventually moved into the starting pg spot.

Guards - Anthony Edwards - Tyrese Haliburton - Devin Booker - Donovan Mitchell - De'Aaron Fox Forwards - Jalen Williams - Jason Tatum - Jalen Brown - Mikal Bridges - Paolo Banchero - OG Anunoby Centers - Bam Adabayo - Chet Holmgren - Joel Embiid - Jaren Jackson Jr. This is the 15 I would start with. I think you could consider Brunson, but IDK how well his offense fits into this type of everyone eats system. Ja on the other hand, is not a good enough defender to make it IMO, plus not a consistent enough 3PT shooter as is. The guards listed have way more two way upside and can fit into almost every line-up. Ant can be a ball-stopper, but he brings elite perimeter D, Hali is probably the worst defender of the guards, but he's probably the best 3PT shooter and certainly the best passer, can easily fit into these high pace line-ups and hopefully he's a better defender by 2028. The forwards are really strong, all of them are incredible defenders and 3PT shooters (Besides Paolo with the 3s), but these guys can really fiit into any lineup, and they're all ball-movers who are going to take open shots, drive close outs and create advantages, and can be the primary ball handler at times. Also some of these guys like Paolo and OG can easily fit into small ball lineups with Chet or JJJ. Embiid was my most questionable pick, but in international play there are so many teams with big strong centers who would overpower Bam/Chet/JJJ/Paolo - although I could see Paolo becoming way stronger by 2028 - either way, Embiid is currently the most credible Jokic defender, and for the slower pace battles he's great to have. Chet is super valuable as a spacing big who is amazing at protecting the rim and can kinda play with anyone. I think this team would be super elite and probably have the best defense in the tournament. Obviously some of these guys will say no and this would never happen. I really love this forward core BC they all do the dirty work. Snub/Consider if the above people say no - Ja (simply too small) - Zion (He's so unpredictable, but could be good) - Brunson (Offense might not fit, and defense isn't amazing on ball) - Desmond Bane (If you need more of a 3&D guard) - Cade Cunningham (for guard depth if the above say no or are washed) - Aaron Gordon (Great strong forward defender, would thrive in this game, but can't space, would be amazing in Hali/Chet linups) - Derrick White (if he's still doing it right) - Austin Reaves (if hella guards say no, great ball mover, solid defender, proven in FIBA play) - Scottie Barnes (if he cant shoot he's not gonna make it) - Herb Jones (If u need more wings bc above say no) - Jaden McDaniels (same reasoning as Herb, but he's much thinner and won't translate as well so IDK) - Cooper Flag (we don't know how good he will be) - Tyrese Maxey (could make it, but I just think the other guards are better, who knows in 4 years) - KD (I don't see it, he's best when he's not the leader, but surrounded by guys who can lead, he'd be expected to lead in 2028)

Despite the Kroenke's and Booth's "pledges" stated at the beginning of the off-season, nuggets did NOTHING to improve their roster and chances to contend. Kroenke: "when you have the best player on the planet, you need to go for it... you owe it to him" Booth: "I'm the steward of Jokic's prime" Yep. That's what was said. Literally. Publicly. And then - Nuggets lost KCP (and few others) and brought in Saric and Westbrook. On minimums. Didn't go for great players, all-stars, value-add assets... They went for bottom of the barrel, cheap and risk-free. It is clear that from the get-go - the only focus for the Nuggets owners, Nuggets FO and Nuggets GM was: KEEP US UNDER THE APRONS, MINIMIZE COST, OBLIGATIONS AND LIABILITIES. That was the PRIMARY and the ONLY focus that these people REALLY had. Because - Kroenkes are in the process/negotiations to sell Denver Nuggets. They invested about $400M 20 years ago and now are looking at the $3.5-4B valuation/deal. About 900%+ pure profit in 20 years. Not bad at all. And that brings us to this point - Nuggets got worse last year, and then got even worse this year. Nuggets are eroding and rotting inside-out. Jokic is probably fully aware of this situation, and the question is - how is he perceiving it? Nuggets are throwing away Jokic's prime - this is obvious. What does Jokic think about it!? Is he OK with it!? Or he's quietly pissed off (serbian way) and he'll blow up with a DEMAND FOR A TRADE!? We'll see. Personally - I'm disgusted by Denver Nuggets. By their owners, FO, their GM, their "media" such as this one, and ultimately by their fanbase. The whole thing has that "trailer trash" vibe of low expectations and cheap hustling. We'll see.

Great perspective. Probably our best comment ever 💯. I think Joker and Murray are great enough to keep the Nuggets in the mix but the apron rules limits a lot of the teams in the league. I think they are about to lean on player development around Joker. What I think that means is moving on from the “others” (MPJ, eventually AG as well). Still think they are force to be reckoned with.

Nuggets FO/GM/such would like to sell us the "player development" BS - BUT, smart people know - when you have top 10 player of all time, in his prime, you don't "develop". YOU GO FOR WINS. When did Nuggets had a player like Jokic!? When will they have one like him again!? Truth is - Jokic NEVER had an all-star level player to play with, and it seems that he never will.
