I dont know about how to test the whether it has true hepa filter or not but i can see there are layers of filters in there and they seems to be working pretty well. i feel the difference after using it. Earlier there used to be smokey smell in the room due to pollution, but after using it the smell vanished. Also there use to be slightly visible smog in the room which you can see around the lights. That also disappeared after using it. Practically i found it usefull and working. But remember you need to close all the windows and doors to make it work effectively. In small rooms or bedroom area it clears the air faster compare to hall area. Smaller the room faster the cleaning process. We use it in bedroom. According to me it works properly.
