what is your radio setup? just a speaker, or did you wire the radio in the car (if you have one) to be able to connect to your phone, etc? did that with a countertop radio from the 50's, so it's definitively possible
@RAK4022 сағат бұрын
I have my phone connected to a battery powered AM transmitter. The transmitter ground is tied to the original Ford radio case. The transmitter antenna comes up through the dash near the windshield wiper control and is coiled around the base of the stock antenna.

@@RAK402 So then is Kato the best “N” gauge stuff now? One reason I stopped the trains was the Bachman stuff was garbage. Even the Athen stuff would constantly derail if the track wasn’t set perfect. I noticed the Kato track is mounted to a ridged road bed. This looks like it might work better, do you know anything about this? I know it’s not your gauge but let me know if you do. Thanks!
@RAK40225 күн бұрын
@@mjhouse1955 EK-trician, I don't know much of anything about N-Gauge. The Kato track looks really good to me too. O-Gauge and even Standard Gauge has now gone to the track with integral plastic roadbed (I think Kato was the first to do it) and it works really well. DCC is very interesting (sound, command control that will fit in HO or N Gauge.

I was just going to ask are you running dcs but it appears so! Are the 2 loops insulated from each other each other?
@RAK40228 күн бұрын
There are two loops on the layout that are not connected to each other. Both loops are on DCS variable channels. Both also have TMCC/Legacy. The catenary is powered directly from the transformer with no Command Control or DCS Variable Control (at the moment-I will probably add a second TIU so that I can control the voltage to the catenary through a Variable Channel). Both of the locomotives that have been upgraded to PS-3 are running on the same outside loop in Command Mode (DCS). The passenger train on the inner loop is not equipped with command and is running from the Variable DCS channel.
@azslotracer28 күн бұрын
@RAK402 thank you for the explanation! I am watching a video by Sean's train room on his standard of the world series episode 8 about wiring, it kind of explains how he does it using switches to change the power going from the TIU to the track with a double throw switch. I always used 4 outputs on my transformer for 4 different loops with 2 being conventional and 2 DCS controlled. I will do my new layout differently now from watching the video and your explanation. Thanks, Glenn
@RAK40228 күн бұрын
@@azslotracer I attempted to post a reply before but it seems to be gone sir. There is no reason to go to the complexity of double-pole double-throw switches. You were right the first time in using one DCS channel per loop-DCS stays on all the time and conventional running is accomplished through the variable channels. If you need more variable channels you add another TIU and run them in "Super TIU" mode (the new WTIU looks to be equipped with four variable channels so you would only need one of those). When I turn the power on, DCS is on, on both tracks. The only thing that I have on a separate switch is the Legacy Command base as some of those had an issue with overcharging the remote batteries. If you want to run pure conventional (i.e. varying the voltage through the transformer) that works too with DCS on the tracks. My layout is powered by two post-war ZW's and sometimes I just sit there, like I did 60+ years ago and run in conventional using the ZW handles.

This comment has nothing to do with this radio..lol. 10yrs ago you must have posted a video of a Wen-Mac P63 King Cobra Control line airplane produced in the early 1960’s. I am desperate to learn how the pilot ejected from from the plane. I just bought one and want to restore it to its full 1960’s glory but can’t find shite on how the pilot parachutes out. I don’t have the pilot so maybe theirs something about his seat post that let the ejection spring work? How you have some knowledge about this because nothing on the internet has helped so far.
@RAK40211 ай бұрын
Not all of the Wen Mac P-39/P-63's (they used the same mold for both, just named them differently) were equipped with pilot eject. The early ones had a fixed/snapped on canopy, rubber tires, a cover over the bellcrank (on the bottom), fairings over the landing gear struts, a simulated light behind the scale carb intake, a separately applied grill in the carb intake, a separate cover for the engine area, and a spinner made in several pieces. As time went on most of these details were eliminated, but the pilot eject was added at some point. On these there was a lever or bellcrank inside which engaged a catch on the front of the canopy. When this was released by pulling a third control line, the canopy would hinge up and back and fly off (often resulting in a broken canopy). There was separately installed post with a spring on it that the pilot snapped down on onto (also released by the afore mentioned lever). The spring forced the pilot out-the chute was folded up behind the pilot under the canopy. If your model has these features you will see the tip of the eject lever behind the nose gear strut between the front landing gear doors. There will also be writing on the wing indicating where to thread the line for the eject feature. Not all of the Wen Mac versions have the eject feature, but all of the ones produced by Testors to. Sorry for the long answer,.
