The original Drakar & Demoner was my first roleplaying game, soon followed by many others. The world really needs more ducks!

@@MathiasKoeppen it must be like going back in time seeing it around the place again. Have you tried it since it has been revamped?
@MathiasKoeppen7 күн бұрын
@@unconventionalgms I have not, but Fredrik has promised to run it when time allows. However, I did play the Expert version of the original last year. The rules show their age, but the setting and nostalgia is solid. I played a duck (of course) and so did Andreas. :)

@MathiasKoeppen ducks ("Mallards") are one of the highlights of the game, obviously. Probably the best thing about Runequest, too, come to think of it.

Good game, all. I love Savage Worlds. I have HoE, but haven't done anything with it beyond reading. I have a hard enough time convincing people round these parts to play anything besides 5e.
@unconventionalgms11 күн бұрын
Getting people off 5e can be a bit of a challenge, but starting folk off on a one shot when you can't get the full D&D group together and still want something to play can be a way in! Thanks for the kind words. 🙂

Great AP. Kudos to Ben for a really well ran and well explained session. I particularly liked the very natural way the swearing of the Iron Vow was done, as a cultural part of the setting. And the control of everyone to stay on point for two hours too - unless that was amazing editing!
@unconventionalgms3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Neil! I can assure you editing is the absolute bear minimum is needs to be, we’re far too lazy to be doing that if instead we can just play to a high standard. :)

For me I was looking for three things: does it help me decide if this a game that I should get because I like its style: having bought the game, does it help me understand the mechanics in action; can this help me be a better GM. On all three counts, it works really well. I thought i would want more mechanics explanation but in practice it was the right balance.
