I gave up on modern horror movies after Cabin in the Woods. Got recommended The Thing and now no other movie will ever be able to match it. Sure, body horror gets me, but squirming over disgusting visuals isn't scary, its just disturbing. Like the remake of Texas Chainsaw, it was disgusting, but not scary. The original was scary due to the victims being treated like animals and theyre essentially there for meat like a cow or pig. There was very little blood compared to modern horror movies. Found footage films are also going downhill. I remember watching Cloverfield for the first time and shaking because of a Godzilla monster that was unstoppable, but also being filmed in the perspective of a person/people on ground zero was terrifying. Now horror movies think gore = horror, which is not the case.

The intro of the movie was great. But then all the references to the old movies started rolling in. Almost every scene until the end of the movie. That made it feel cheap. And how can they afford a spaceship and fuel if they can barely afford food? 5.5/10. Edit: did anyone else see the "canary in the coalmine" reference? One of the miners actually has a bird cage with a canary in the beginning of the movie.

It was a 6/10 for me. It would have been higher if it didnt tie into the prequels. I just wanted to pretend the prequels didnt exist. I would never watch it again however. I loved the directing and production, but other then Andy and the main girl i didnt really care about the rest of the characters. There is some logic issues with the movie eg. Why would the company go through so mych effort over all the various movies to get their hands on the xenonorph only to not even bother to send a team to recover their reseach on the station decaying in orbit? It would have added more tension and excitement if a company team ended up on the station too. Those are my biggest gripes. I just really hate the black goo. The mystery of the Spacejockey and aliens was more interesting then the explanation we got.

I have all the Alien and Predator movies on blu-ray and DVD at home. With Romulus I can split it in 2 parts. Some of it is it's own movie, the rest is just all the other movies. I dislike sitting in the cinema, having paid full price just to be constantly bombarded with member berries, constantly reminding me that I have the other (better) movies at home, that I already paid for years ago. They had a great chance here to tell their own story, their own ideas. It's not a bad movie, but it's just another chance lost to tell a new story in a familiar world. How many times do we need to hear "Get away from her you bit(h!

That’s what RS tried to do with Prometheus and Covenant, which is why I personally really liked those movies cuz they were different and expanded on the Lore in a new light. Unfortunately though, the general fan base just wants the same old recycled story we got from the first 4 Alien movies, which is showcased by audience reviews for Prometheus/Covenant vs Romulus. People HATE change so god forbid you do something different to bring new light to the story. People just suck
@redwillow79schippers944 күн бұрын
I personally didn't like Romulus very much. 1. No character development. Besides the two main characters, who weren't really that fleshed out either, I felt like I didn't know any of these characters and didn't really care about them 2. Bland set design. Compare this to the original. Romulus just looks really dull. Everything was brown. The original has tons of color even thought they are in space. The original proves that space doesn't have to be dull and drab. 3. Doom and Gloom. Like most horror movies these days (not including the great independent ones) everything is doom and gloom. The characters are sad, depressed, and broken from the start. No levity at all. It's just so depressing to watch a film where every character is miserable. 4. Crappy CGI. I hated that CGI monster at the end. It was just really bad and took me out of the film even more so I'm glad people are liking the movie because we need more big budget horror but I hope we get some with characters who look real and with character development. This movie was not for me

Terminator: Zero is the only good thing to come from this franchise since T2. There are some elements from Salvation, Genisys, Dark Fate that are interesting but I feel out of those 3 movies there's only enough good ideas for 1 decent movie at the absolute most. Honestly, they could maybe do a prequel. I'll only support it though if it's dark, foreboding, has a fresh legitimate cast. The next movie should be done entirely by James Cameron maybe with the support of a known horror writer....and have a disclaimer that Salvation, Genisys, and Dark Date are no longer canon. It has to be an 18+ movie. Back to the roots with no cheesey throwback lines. Terminator: Zero on Netflix is refreshing. A new proper movie though needs to lean heavily on horror.
