It is Ardbert who sings the song while a part of the WoL, and that makes it somehow even more meaningful knowing that part of him still exists within you, rather than just being completely lost by his rejoining with the WoL.

Upon reflection, this questline is a good example of how I feel about Dawntrail: I understand what they were trying to do but it was a drag to get through >_< I like DT overall though, I had fun, and Im looking forward to see where the story goes!

Fake sphene’s a primal. What is their technology if not blinged out aether and soul tech? Factor in their fervent desire for their eternal queen. She’s a bizarre type of techno primal. The other sphene is probably the original and we unwittingly called her echo possessed soul back into her preserved body when we used the Azem stone.

I think she’s a form of primal 50% and the other 50% of me think the fake sphene is just Gulool Ja’s mom wearing the crown, I think there’s a reason the crown was shown still glowing after 7.0, I think whoever put on the crown can project her image, it’s already shown her visage can be projected onto other things during the MSQ

As a molecular science enjoyer I was kind of disappointed by this part of the lore. It is both too vague and plot-convenient to have any interesting tension and seems like Aether properties in-game just randomly change according to the writer's current plot goals. Not very exciting or deep.

Honestly, “vanishing into the aether” has been a phrase irl for much longer than FF14 has been around. Before scientists understood that electromagnetic waves don’t need a medium for travel, the theory was that an invisible massless, undetectable medium permeated all of space, and called the undetectable medium aether.

The only answer really is that A ots a metaphoric representation of Zodiark or B a literal representation of him at the heart of the moon. He is basically a confluence of aether trapped there on each moon of each reflection after all which isn’t really any different than the mother crystal at the heart of the star.
