If the color is good and type is good with break,toes and toes nails are straight. Do you always go for the bigest birds both male & females for jumbo breeders. How many males & females do you keep for backups breeders in case you lose some. I remember you saying your males are smaller then the females most of the time.

I bought a small incubator, and I've only hatched one batch of chicken eggs, and had about 25% hatch rate, and I thought I was the problem - that I forgot to turn them or something. The eggs I most wanted to hatch didn't - I assumed either the rooster or the hen was infertile, although it appeared the eggs started to develop. But the hatch rate for the other chickens wasn't very good, either. I have a batch of coturnix eggs in the incubator right now, in lockdown. I really hope at least 25% hatch, but... I'll buy a thermometer and hydrometer.

I cracked two eggs while loading my incubator: I was surprised at how tough that inner membrane is. I think the membrane is the problem.

Hi Zack i have been trying to get Amber fee so far not much luck. I did acquire Egyptian fee and Pearl fee. I was wondering if it mattered if it was Male fee bred with Amber hens, or Amber male bred with fee hens? Or does it matter

I have the same gqf I take the red tabs off the top for air flow and cover the gqf with a large towel. It works great However I do mostly dry hatches.

I’m curious what you would do with a male Egyptian/pharaoh that had the speckles on the chest. Is that something other farmers would cull? I have one that 100% passes as a female in appearance but is vent sexable as a boy.
