I live in Maitland in the Hunter Valley where it has flooded three times in the thirty years we’ve been here. They have dedicated flood zones, levee banks etc. last year it was a record flood and no one’s home was destroyed. Sydney needs to learn.

Great to see such a good warning light design. It achieves everything that is necessary: all lamps flashing simultaneously with bi-lateral symmetry of flash phasing and colour. This makes a vehicle easy to identify as one vehicle, simplifying an approaching driver's workload and reducing their reaction time, particularly in complex road scenes. It also makes tracking of the truck's relative motion and its disposition simple and quick. It should be the standard for all emergency vehicles nation-wide.

Excellent warning light design: bi-laterally symmetrical flash phasing and colour. World class! Allows easy tracking by observers of the relative motion of the vehicle, its disposition and its identity (as a unitary vehicle). Helps clarify units at a multi unit incident and makes the scene much simpler for approaching drivers to interpret and make quick robust and appropriate decisions.

Being a volunteer is training for how you want to help and then helping out our local community. You do as much as you are able to do. Being there to help other communities (if you want to), supporting out of area operations, is lots of fun. You learn to work together with other units and Emergency services and in the end, most of the time, you get to make someone's day and go home feeling like you did good! I am overwhelmed with SES Hills Unit's excellent help with my leaking roof, when I failed to find a roofer to help me but the SES Hills unit came as a Godsend and solved my issues. I am thankful to Malcom and Damien and his team. I have applied to join and is waiting for the local unit recruitment time as scheduled next 6-9 months.
